EXCLUSIVE: PJIAE Employees preparing to take management to court on charges for violating labor rights and victimization.

pjiae28062012PHILIPSBURG:--- The employees of the Operations department of PJIAE have secured the services of a law firm to take their employer Princess Juliana International Airport (PJIAE) to court on the grounds of violation of employee’s rights and victimization.
SMN News learned from well-placed sources that there have been some ongoing labor issues between the operations department and the newly appointed Chief Operations Officer (COO) Michel Hyman. The sources said the issues started way before Hyman was promoted to the interim position of Chief Operations Officer.
The employees are accusing the managers of PJIAE of abuse of authority, threats, victimization, and violation of employee’s rights and possible civil rights. It is further stated that employees of the Airport Operations department are forced to perform tasks that are not part of their job description and job classifications.
While the employees of PJIAE are being represented by ABVO, the employees chose to take their case to court because they are not satisfied with the representation they are getting from their union representative.
According to information reaching SMN News states that the law office that is representing the employees contacted the management of PJIAE who promised to get back to them, but contact was made by the lawyer representing PJIAE requesting that parties seek mediation between the legal representatives, the employees, and management.
Efforts made to reach the COO of PJIAE Michel Hyman proved futile on Tuesday.
