PHILIPSBURG:--- Police arrested the former station manager of Insel Air Alonso Hassel at his Mount William home around 7 am Tuesday morning. Hassel is wanted in connection with the embezzlement of funds from Insel Air. At the time the story broke on the embezzlement of the company's funds. Hassel had slipped the island for the Dominican Republic. However, the wanted senior employee returned to St. Maarten where he was arrested. Police Spokesman Ricardo Henson confirmed the arrest. Alonso Hassel was the manager of the Ticketing Office that is located in the Yogesh Building. It is alleged that Hassel stole approximately $170,000.00 dollars from the company which was discovered in August 2016.

As result of a complaint of embezzlement, forgery, and theft filed by Insel Air in 2016 against S.B.B (sales agent) and A.A. H. (sales manager), in which together these employees are suspected of to have embezzled approximately US $100.000,-, a criminal investigation into this case was started.
In connection with this ongoing investigation, the arrest of A.A.H. was made this morning May 16th at his home in Fort Willem. A.A.H. was questioned after contacting to his lawyer and he remains in custody for further investigation.
