TelEm Group reports interruption in service to Simpson Bay, Lowlands customers.

Pond Island:--- TelEm Group’s technicians and engineers are presently handling a disruption in telecommunication services to part of the Simpson Bay area and are diligently working on restoring these services as soon a possible.

Manager, Planning & Engineering, Mr. Jed Carty, informed earlier this evening that technicians have been troubleshooting and have traced the fault to a defective card in a company sub-station in the Simpson Bay area.

“The part of the area affected is from the Bridge to the Lowlands area,” said Mr. Carty.

He said the affected switch currently is providing service to the Princess Juliana International Airport and a decision has been taken to maintain that connection until the airport closes at approximately 11:00 pm this evening, at which time the necessary maintenance and replacement protocols can be observed.

“We do not want to put the airport at any risk by carrying out the scheduled work until we are given the all-clear,” continued, Mr. Carty.

He has meantime apologized to all landline, mobile and internet customers who are affected by this outage, assuring that service will be resumed as soon as possible.
