SMSEF Interscholastic Tournament DAY 3.

PHILIPSBURG:---11U: Hillside vs Leonald Connor: motivated by the 6 – 1 win of last week against FC Magda, Hillside 11U, wanted to keep up their winning streak against the strong force of Leonald Connor 11U. However, Leonald Connor 11U surprised the spectators with an excellent performance, winning 4 – 1 while showing great communication skills within the team. Leonald Connor had great ball possession while showing great teamwork and coordination while not losing sight of their own position on the field. Hillside, after scoring an early goal, could not find a way to score more goals and ended up conceding 4.
For what concerns Hillside’s team, credit goes to the goal scorer number 39 Damier Coffie, Overall, it was just a well-played football match that kept the spectators on the edge of their seats, as more games were to come. Final Score  Hillside - Leonald Connor: 1 – 4.

11U: Sr. Regina Masters vs FC Magda: The second game of DAY 3 of the Interscholastic Competition organised by the SMSEF, saw Sr. Regina Masters 11U and FC Magda 11U facing each other in an exciting match. Sr. Regina Masters 11U showed great ball handling technique throughout the entire match, while FC Magda was more reactive when starting counter-attacks. Their reactiveness, however, only brought FC Magda two goals. Sr. Regina Masters 11U, showed great consistency and scored an astonishing 10 goals. Alex and Remigiwo, respectively number 59 and 72, carried the team towards victory by scoring plenty of goals and assists. FC Magda, scored two goals. One was beautifully set up by two quick through passes. Even though Sr. Regina Masters 11U were very prolific, the defending of FC Magda 11U still had some bright moments. The performance of FC Magda’s defender Maya Speetjens must be mentioned. In conclusion?

11U: Regina Stars vs Pr. W. Alexander: The third match of DAY 3 of the Interscholastic Competition, Regina Stars against Pr. W. Alexander. The first half, was most exciting, with 5 goals scored and plenty of occasions for both teams. It became clear very early that this would be an offensive game. Both teams attacked in full force, leaving plenty of space open for the opponents to counter-attack. No wonder most of the goals were scored starting from ball recoveries. Regina Stars 11U, closed the first half with a solid advantage but had to confirm themselves in the second half. This is exactly what they have been doing, by keeping focus and persevering in their good plays, scoring 2 more goals in the second half. By doing so, they secured a solid victory of 7 – 2 against Pr. W. Alexander. For Regina Stars 11U players, Israel (43, GK) and Kimaly (80, ST) have to be mentioned for their excellent performance. Lastly, credit has to be given to Pr. W. Alexander for battling until the last minute, especially because they started the match with only five players. The leading player of the team, was certainly the player with the number 35, Jamaal, who scored two goals thanks to his long-shot capabilities. Final score?

9U: MAC vs Regina United: The first match of DAY 3 between U9, saw MAC 9U against Regina United 9U, both coming from a high-scoring victory on DAY 2. This, surely was an exciting match. The spectators were treated to a good football performance by the youngsters.The final score, 7 - 0 for MAC 9U, reiterated the attacking attitude of MAC. For Mac 9U, Tyler Sergeant provided yet again a great performance with three assists. MAC’s number 17, is now at the top of the 9U goal scorers and already is in double digits with only 3 matches played: much more are sure to come! Regina United has to be given credit for giving their 100%, Regina United’s number 46, Valencio Baker, delivered another great performance. In fact, he got more into the role of the playmaker instead of the one of the goals scorer. In conclusion, this exciting game ended with some last dramatic five minutes, where MAC sealed their win over Regina United with the end score of 7 - 0.

9U: Sr. Magda Green Boys vs Sr. Magda Athletics: The fifth match of DAY 3 of the Interscholastic Tournament, scheduled the Sr. Magda Green Boys against the Sr. Magda Athletics in a fascinating and surprising derby. This match saw the coaches of the two teams, Sergio for the Magda Athletics and Vincent for the Magda Green Boys, challenging each other for the 3 points. Sr. Magda Athletics 9U, had a stronger start off the game, while the Green Boys were still studying their opponent during the initial minutes. This gave the Magda Athletics the opportunity to score 5 goals in the first minutes and ended the first half with a goal feed of 9 goals. On the other hand, Sr. Magda Green Boys 9U scored 3 goals. During the second half, the Sr. Magda Green Boys could not overturn the situation and Sr. Magda Athletics conserved the solid lead. In conclusion, Sr. Magda Athletics ended fixing the result on an unpredictable 13 – 3 against Magda Green Boys.
13U: Hillside vs Learning Unlimited: It was a high scoring match, between Hillside Christian and Learning Unlimited, with the latter one winning 14 – 0 over their opponents from Hillside. The first 13U match of DAY 3, was clearly a shocker, as the expectations for Learning Unlimited were high, but nobody expected them to win by such a high number. The Learning Unlimited team, exploited their chances and created many good plays showing a great understanding of the game of Football. The engine of the team, Oliver Hogbood, played in an unselfish way, delivering precise and strong passes throughout the game. The man in charge of finalizing for Learning Unlimited 13U was certainly number 9 Tyrique Sylvester, given scoring 6 goals. Among Hillside’s line-up, one player that did not give up was number 8 Leon Florent, who played hard until the last minute of the match.
End result, 14 – 0 for Learning Unlimited.

7U: Loenald Connor vs Sr. Magda Stars: The smaller age group of the tournament, the 7U, played the last game of DAY 3, in a match that saw the Leonald Connor 7U challenge the Sr. Magda Stars 7U. It was a pleasure to see the young kids playing with such enthusiasm, Some good plays and combinations were delivered by these young athletes, showing how the understanding of the game from the kids is improving match after match. The first half was a close one, with both teams constructing many plays but ending the half with just one goal, scored by the Sr. Magda Stars. During the second half, Leonald Connor again struggled with getting the ball in the net, while Sr. Magda Stars increased their lead with 2 other goals. These, were scored by number 14 Kaden Magloire, who showed the typical ‘attacker’s instinct’, by always being at the right place at the right time. In conclusion, the match ended 3 – 0 for the Sr. Magda Stars, but Leonald Connor surely deserved to score a goal in this fun closing match of DAY 3.
