Two arrests on Saba for violating the Opium Act BES.

Two men were arrested in Saba during the weekend for violation of the Opium Act BES. A man with the initials M. M. Born in the Dominican Republic) had about 50 grams of cocaine and crack in his possession when he arrived on the island. The other man with the initials M.E.L. born on Saba was caught with almost 750 grams of soft drugs in his possession. The men have been in custody during the ongoing investigation. On February 9 the investigation had been fully completed and the prosecutor decides that both men could be prosecuted. They have issued a summons and they will appear in front of a judge on Saba in June. Because the investigation had been concluded, there was no legal cause to hold the men any longer. They have been released from pre-trial detention. Because they have received the summons already they can be sentenced even if they do not appear for the court case.
