Asking harsh questions does not mean the government falls.
PHILIPSBURG: --- MP Silvio Matser cleared the air and called on the Ministers to respect the Parliament of St. Maarten. Matser said the Ministers must respect the Members of Parliament and not take them for granted. He said that when children do not respect the rules laid down by their parent’s actions are taken such as discipline, therefore, if the Ministers do not show respect Parliament they actions will be taken and those actions will not be nice ones.
Matser further told the Ministers that they do not have to always be politically correct and not be afraid of controversies. He said that there are some great Ministers in office now but they need to take the bull by the horns and do the things that have to be done. He made clear that at the end of the day the people of St. Maarten are one, and such they should not allow anyone to divide them.
Master referred to someone who went to parliament Monday evening and not one of the MPs or Ministers could have answered the person. He asked what if the entire country marches down to them what exactly they are going to do. He said it’s time for lawmakers to put policies in place that would make it harder for employers to bring in foreigners and instead those employers will hire the people that are living and or born on St. Maarten.
Matser said that its time for St. Maarten to safeguard the chickens instead of killing off the chickens that are laying the eggs.
Member of Parliament Christopher Emmanuel also expressed the same sentiments where he called on the Ministers to respect the Members of Parliament even if they are supporting the government. Emmanuel said when the young woman walked into parliament on Monday afternoon everyone became dumbfounded with her predicament.
