Simpson Bay Resort staff receives CPR & First Aid Training.

sbrtraining12122016SIMPSON BAY:--- As part of preparedness for the high season, Simpson Bay Resort Management decided to provide their staff with the Emergency First Response course to be ready to deal with medical emergencies. A total of 32 staff members successfully completed this one-day course which taught them how to recognize life-threatening problems as heart attack, cardiac arrest, stroke and airway obstruction - and how to deal with it when it occurs. Serious bleeding, spinal injury, and shock management were also covered as part of the course. A good part of the course was spent on practicing skills, like Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR); chest compressions and rescue breaths. Use of the Automatic External Defibrillator was also part of the training and several new Philips
HS-1 AED machines were installed at the Resort. Upon completing the course, an internationally recognized certificate was presented to each participant.

Simpson Bay Resort Management is reassured that their staff is now able to jump into action when one of their guests or colleagues needs Emergency First Response care when they are in need and while waiting for an ambulance to arrive.” In a big resort like this with guests 24 hours a day there is a lot of things that can happen, so it’s good that staff knows how to handle medical emergencies”, according to Simpson Bay Resort Security Manager Marvin Tackling.

Emergency First Response Instructor Sandra Volard Kruis facilitated the training. “Participants found that the training was interesting and very useful, they were very motivated and it was great to see how everyone participated enthusiastically – especially with the practical CPR & AED part”.
