PHILIPSBURG:--- S.B.B. (27) has been released on Friday, September 9, 2016, from pre-trial detention pending an ongoing investigation concerning embezzlement at an airline company. She was detained on September 1, 2016, after she turned herself in voluntarily to the police. The Prosecutor’s office however, did not deem it necessary to ask the judge of instruction to remand her to custody (“bewaring”) for another eight (8) days. S.S.B. remains a suspect in the case while more arrests cannot be excluded as the investigation continues.
MAHI MAHI Suspect Kevin Lake released pretrial detention ---- All remained suspects
The Court of First Instance during a preliminary hearing on Thursday, September 8, 2016, ordered the release of K.L. (33), one of the suspects in the ongoing Mahi-Mahi investigation regarding May 29, 2016, shooting at the Westin Dawn Beach Resort parking. It was K.L.’s defence lawyer who requested the suspension. The Prosecutor’s Office opposed to this request stating that there are sufficient grounds to hold the suspect, as there are indications that K.L. had actively taken part in the shooting and that he is suspected of money laundering based on a large amount of counterfeit money which was found in his car supposedly to be used in a rip deal. The new court hearing dare set is on December 21, 2016. K.L. still remains a suspect in the investigation as are A.J., L.W., O.E.J.A., A.R.L.B.T., and G.W.M.Court orders suspension of K.L.’s pre-trial detention.
