Voting Bureau cannot issue numbering and colors to political party until decision rendered in USP appeal case.

PHILIPSBURG: --- The voting bureau has cannot issue the numbering and color to nine political parties as planned since the United St. Maarten Peoples Party (USP).
According to the scheduling, the voting bureau is supposed to assign the numbering and colors to the nine political parties that are contesting the September 26th parliamentary elections. Article 36 of the ordinance states that in the event an appeal is filed then the voting bureau has to wait on the outcome of the appeal prior to assigning colors and numbers to political parties especially since today Monday, August 22nd is the deadline for appeals.
SMN News contacted the chairman of the Voting Bureau to see if a meeting will be held to assign the numbers and colors today (Monday). Rogers said that no meeting will be held Monday but decline to give the reasons for the delay.
SMN News further learned that the USP filed two cases, one in with the administrative court and one with the civil court just to make sure that the court renders a decision on their appeal.
