Armed Robbery Suspect sentenced to 20 years.

PHILIPSBURG:--- The Court in First Instance in its interlocutory ruling on Wednesday July 13 found the suspect F.F.C. (38) born on St. Kitts and living in St. Maarten guilty of committing nine armed burglaries, four thefts with assault and battery, attempted manslaughter against a police officer, threatening two persons with an firearm of which one was a 14 year old boy and illegal firearms possession. F.F.C. was subsequently sentenced to 20 years in jail. The Prosecutor’s Office had also asked for a jail sentence of 20 years during the court hearing that took place on June 22. The court hearing will continue on October 5 to deal with claims of victims for damages suffered. The Prosecutor’s Office also announced that it will submit an order to recover proceeds of crime because F.F.C. earned money by selling the goods he had stolen. Orders to recover proceeds of crime fit within the new policy of the Prosecutor’s Office and from now on the Prosecutor’s Office will be submitting more such claims.

Pretrial detention extended for XTC suspects

The three suspects A.J.H. (31) born in The Netherlands, A.A.S.A. (37) born in The Netherlands and O.S.L.V. (26) born in St. Maarten, all detained on Saturday July 2 in connection with 2,900 XTC pills confiscated in a house on Peach Road, South Reward, were remanded to custody for eight (8) more days (“bewaring) on Tuesday July 12. The prosecutor requested the suspects be remanded to custody and the judge of instruction granted the prolonged custody. The investigation in this case continues.
