Draft law on Youth Employment Fund soon to be taken to Parliament --- PM Marlin

Labor Department have about 500 unemployed persons in their database that fits the criteria.

PHILIPSBURG:--- Prime Minister William Marlin announced on Wednesday that the draft law that he sent to the legal department for advice sent him back the draft law with some adaptations they made to the draft law. Marlin said he will do his best to get this draft law on the agenda for Thursday’s Council of Ministers meeting where it could be approved before it makes it way to the various organs before going to the Parliament of St. Maarten for debate. Marlin said that the latest this draft law would be on the Council of Ministers agenda would be Tuesday if he is not successful in getting it on Thursday. The Prime Minister further explained that after speaking with the head of the Social Affairs department he learnt that there are about 500 persons in database that are unemployed and could fit the criteria to be employed through this fund when it is fully established.
He said that the department head assured him that she will begin contacting those persons in the database to see if they are still unemployed and are willing to be part of the project.
