Minister of Education negotiates agreement between the Government of St. Maarten and Keiser University

Minister of Education Culture Youth & Sports, Silveria Jacobs on the final leg of her working visit to the United States to promote studying in the region through partnerships with educational institutions, visited Keiser University Flagship Campus in West Palm Beach Florida.
At Keiser University the Minister Jacobs and her Delegation form the Department of Study Financing held discussions with the Campus President Tom L. Duncan, PhD., Director of Admission, Jeff Greenipp , and Admissions Counselor-International Ivette Noto. Mr. Greenipp previously worked at Johnson & Wales University for more18 years as director of admissions and played a key role in St. Maarten students receiving discounted tuition rates. ‎
During this meeting the Minister of Education discussed and negotiated an agreement between the Government of St. Maarten and Keiser University which will enable selected St. Maarten students to receive a scholarship grant ranging between US$10 000 and US$12 500 towards their tuition, housing and meal plan per year for a Bachelors or Masters, Degree Program. Taking into consideration the Government of St. Maarten's study financing of US$15 000, this means that St. Maarten students will be able to study at Keiser University for approximately US$6 500 per semester.
Several other forms of cooperation were discussed including a 2+2 program, training programs for teachers, curriculum- and program development support possibilities with the National Institute for Professional Advancement (NIPA).
Minister Jacobs also received a tour of the facilities. Keiser University offers a wide variety of majors in Business, Health Sciences, Sport Management, Sports Medicine and Fitness Technology, Marketing, Political Science and much more. The University also offers athletic opportunities in various sports at NAIA levels in sports such as men and women's basketball, baseball, volleyball, golf and soccer just to name a few.
Keiser University is accredited by SACS to award certificates and degrees at the Associates, Bachelors, Masters, Specialist and Doctoral levels. Studying at Keiser will afford St. Maarten students the opportunity to study and learn on a smaller campus with a large university reach.
