Rotary Club of St. Maarten Mid Ilse Change of Board July 4

rotarymidisle28062015PHILIPSBURG:---- The Rotary Club of St. Maarten Mid Isle will be having its Change of Board ceremony on July 4, 2015 from 7:30 pm to 11:00 pm at the Holland House Beach Hotel.
During this Change of Board dinner event, the current president, Mr. Wayne Wilkie will step down and the incoming president Mr. David Antrobus will assume the presidency for the 2015-2016 Rotary year.
President Wayne Wilkie can look back at a very successful year in which Rotary Club of St. Maarten Mid Isle not only won ten regional awards in the district but also contributed significantly to the community through various projects.
Included in the list of 10 awards are the "District Governor’s Award for Excellence", "Club of the Month Diamond Award", "Membership Development Award" and "Outstanding Service Award". The Club also received the “Rotary International Zone 34 Public Image Citation”, “Areas of Focus Silver Award”, and Certificates of Merit in recognition of "Maintaining Outstanding Facebook Page" and their participation in a “Club Video Contest”, of which Second Place was received. From the District's Club of the Month Committee, Rotary Mid Isle won the "Shooting Star Award" for outstanding effort in reporting their activities to District 7020 for the required ten months. District Governor Paul Brown also presented his “Special Recognition Award” posthumously to Rotarian Ramesh Manek, who championed the End Polio Program for the entire district but passed away tragically two months ago.
Some of the projects from which the community benefitted were the Annual Scotia Bank Bright Future Rotary-Rotaract Spelling Bee where all participating schools received items of their choosing from a wish list. Some schools received water coolers, printers, computers, a PA system, a fridge etc. The annual Rotary Youth Table Tennis Tournament and the Rotary Youth Soccer Tournament were also organized this year to encourage the youth of St. Maarten to participate in sports. One school benefitted from a breakfast program. Rotary Club of St. Maarten Mid Isle was able to fundraise via its Motor Treasure Hunt and donate a significant amount to the DigiKidz program to make technology accessible to our youth in schools.
Incoming president David Antrobus has pledged to continue with the projects for the community and is already looking at adding a number of new projects and new ways of securing funding.
