PwC organises seminar Strategic Workforce Planning

pwc22052015PHILIPSBURG:---- On Thursday 21 May PwC Dutch Caribbean organised the seminar titled Strategic Workforce Planning: Ready for the future for a group of clients and relations at The Westin Dawn Beach Resort & Spa. The seminar focussed on how strategic workforce planning can optimise business performance and successfully prepare organisations for the future.

Jan-Huug Lobregt and Linda Vos from PwC Netherlands were the keynote speakers at the seminar. They spoke about Human Resource issues such as the effect of an increase in retirement age on the workforce flow, inflow and the overall staffing costs, and recruiting and maintaining the right talent for the future workforce. They presented cases from the Netherlands to explain the concept of strategic workforce planning and discussed the challenges and opportunities of workforce planning on St. Maarten by using local examples.

Jan-Huug Lobregt started the seminar by walking the audience through the different maturity levels of HR, explaining the concept of strategic workforce planning and the benefits of incorporating HR policies in the business strategy. "Research shows that organisations who use HR scenario analyses to quantify business policies in advance, score a higher client and employee satisfaction compared to organisations that don't incorporate workforce planning in their business strategy. They also saw their profits rise over the past five years." says Jan-Huug Lobregt, Partner PwC Netherlands.

PwC has developed an analytical tool that uses HR data to calculate different future workforce scenarios. It helps to measure the financial and overall impact that HR decisions may have on the future of an organisation. In defining the dream team of the future, the link is made between the business strategy and the HR policy.

Directors, board members and HR professionals from both the public and private sector of St. Maarten attended the seminar. According to PwC, strategic workforce planning can be used in our local market place to ensure a stable workforce in all sectors of the island. Besides adding value for local companies, strategic workforce planning can benefit the entire labour market of the island.
