Nicole De Weever and Ari Sutton of Art Saves Lives to be honored with Spirit Award at Metropolitan AME Church in Washington, D.C.

St. Maarten/Washington— Visionary and Founder, Nicole C. De Weever and Ari Sutton, Project Manager and Secretary, both of Art Saves Lives Foundation will receive the Spirit Award for their competing work in the Creative Arts in the Diaspora; stated Rev. William Lamar of Metropolitan AME Church.
Metropolitan African Methodist Episcopal Church is located in close proximity to the White House, Congress and Supreme Court—seats of executive, legislative, and judicial authority in the United States, and is considered the seat of African Methodist Episcopalism in the United States. The church has been a landmark in the African American Community since 1838 and have been at the forefront of the civil rights movement and have hosted several presidents including Bill Clinton and current President Barack Obama.
We are honored to receive this award and are happy that students of Art Saves Lives will be present to share in this experience, Ms. Sutton said. Thirteen Students from ASL 2014 have been selected to participate in the service and will perform a piece especially choreographed for this event by Ms. Peggy Ouelrich of Peggy ö Company. The service will be livestreamed on the church's website on Sunday on http://www.metropolitanamec.org/
Founded in 2013, Art Saves Lives continues to use art as a bridge to education. Their annual Summer Intensive will be held from June 27th-July 4th in St. Maarten.
