PHILIPSBURG:--- Book week is aimed at arousing the value of reading in our students. The program of celebration is designed to include essay and poster contests, book exhibitions, spelling bee competitions, battle of the books, visits to the library and various establishments. This year's theme is 'Living Things' and the slogan is 'Branch out with reading'.
On Friday November 28th; at 8:00 a.m. to 10.00 a.m.; Oranje School will be hosting their annual book week parade. Students will be wearing book week t-shirts created by a student of the school while other students will be wearing costumes depicting living things, such as plants, mammals, amphibians, fish, birds, reptiles, and insects . The Soualouiga jump-up brass band will be leading the march/parade along with St. Maarten Vocational School drummers.
The route is from Oranje School on Front Street – straight down to jump-up casino – turning onto backstreet– continue straight down on backstreet- until- turning into old galaxy alley and back to the Oranje School.
