PHILIPSBURG:--- Excitement is building as nominations are coming in for the 8th Annual Crystal Pineapple Awards. We want to make sure that your candidate gets nominated, as nominations will be coming to a close on Monday October 21st, 2013. This is the ONLY event on the island which gives you the opportunity to put forward those individuals and companies that you think should be recognized for their outstanding performance in the Tourism and Trade Industry: May it be an excellent employee, an outstanding manager or for example, someone who has really contributed towards the industry. The grand event will take place on November 22nd at the Sonesta Maho Beach Resort & Casino.
This year's nomination category groups are: Accommodations (Hotels, Timeshares and Rentals) with 4 subcategories; Restaurants with 3 subcategories; and Community Services. Individuals, who have been nominated in previous years, can be nominated again. With tourism being the main economic pillar of St. Maarten, every business on our island, directly or indirectly, contributes to the industry. As such we encourage nominations from all businesses on St. Maarten. So do not miss your chance to submit your nominations! Submission of nominations can be done as follows:

Once your nominations have been received and they pass the initial screening, three to five candidates per subcategory will be presented to the general public for voting. The Organizing Committee is appealing to the community of St. Maarten to nominate their candidate before it is too late. "This is the opportunity to recognize an outstanding employee, supervisor, salesperson or manager would not be acknowledged for their contribution towards our tourism industry. Therefore we urge the community to not let the deadline pass without submitting their candidates", said the SHTA.
