TelEm Group expanding Broadband services to Parliament Building.

telemprovidesbroadbandtoparliament26032013Philipsburg:--- TelEm Group has announced that the company will be expanding broadband services to the Parliament Building on Frontstreet - on the initiative of President of Parliament, Mr. Rudolph Samuel.

An agreement to expand the services was officially signed at the Parliament Building, Friday, March 15, 2013, with representatives of both, Parliament and TelEm Group present.

The agreement makes provision to improve live broadcasts to the general public, provide video-conferencing options with other Kingdom partners and speed up communication links between parliamentarians, journalists and employees working within the building.

President of Parliament, Mr. Rudolph Samuel says parliament is supporting government-owned telecommunication provider, TelEm Group 100%, in delivering on its promise to improve broadband services to parliament utilizing today's fibre optic technology.

"We have been experiencing numerous problems with constant falling out of internet connections and unreliable video-conference, necessitating the installation of a fibre optic solution to improve on bandwidth," said Mr. Samuel.

"With the help of TelEm Group we will remedy these problems and better equip the highest legislative body of Country Sint Maarten with the latest technology and improved service to members of parliament and the general public," continued the president of parliament.

He said the new installation is yet another step forward for St. Maarten's young Parliament and for Country St. Maarten, generally.

TelEm Group Marketing & Sales Manager, Mr. Emile van der Weerd has meantime congratulated the President of Parliament, Mr. Samuel, for his initiative and for his confidence in TelEm Group to upgrade broadband services in the Parliament building.

"Our in-depth knowledge about fibre data network design and implementation will provide the benefit of high bandwidth speeds and better global connections," said Mr. van der Weerd.

He said once the project is completed, parliament will also have a fully operational Wireless (Wi-Fi) network providing wireless data sessions to parliamentary employees and officials throughout the building.

The TelEm Group manager thanked his sales team of Cherrelyn Jermain and Lucrecia Lynch, for securing the contract agreement, and also TelEm Group Network Engineer, Mr. Jed Carty, and Planning Department Technician, Mr. Edsel Martina, for technical support.

"I am most grateful to the sales team, Mr. Carty, Mr. Martina and all TelEm Group employees who were directly or indirectly involved in landing this prestigious project," said Mr. van der Weerd.
