Canadian Travel Agent and Visiting Guests say Great Bay Sonesta Resort has the worst Service in the World.

Philipsburg:--- A group of Canadians which includes the owner of Paradise Travel in Toronto Canada, Albert Ramcharran who is currently staying at the Sonesta Great Bay Beach Resort said the resort is the worst hotel he has seen in his years of traveling. "If I have to rate Sonesta Great Bay I will give them a 0 because their services are so bad compared to the other Caribbean nations. Can you imagine they have no hot-water in the showers, no mats in the bathrooms, and the worst part is that there are no lights in the rooms. While trying to fix the light so that my wife could take a shower, I realized I was not getting anywhere so I removed the shade over the light and its only then I saw there was no bulb inside the socket. Great Bay Sonesta only sells all inclusive packages and the service at the hotel sucks. Some of the workers are really nice and friendly but they have no control over the management of the hotel.

In the restaurants there are some people in my humble opinion that needs to go on pension because some of them can hardly walk. I did encounter a few really nice young people who did everything they could to make their guests happy. "According to some of the staff members, the current night manager was trying to find out which journalist the Ramcharran's and Jadunaught's spoke to. The female night manager wants to know if the workers at Sonesta Great Bay knows the reporter because she said she will fix her. One worker said the night manager said she wants to know what is wrong if the rooms had no bulbs or mats and if that is what those people are complaining about."

The group of six staying at Sonesta Great Bay Resort this week said that they traveled extensively and that even Cuba has better services than St. Maarten, just recently they said they were in Hawaii and it was the best vacation they have had. "Here at Sonesta they gave you a wrist band to identify their all inclusive clients but the wrist band is a sell out to criminals. We have to walk with this band all over St. Maarten and immediately people identify us as visitors and we become targets for criminals. Ramcharran said that if they lose the wrist band or remove it for security purposes they have to buy a new one or lose their rights to the all inclusive they purchased."

Furthermore, there is no entertainment for the hotel visitors. "We were told that the locals became extinct in their own country because just recently the Sonesta Group announced that locals are not allowed to patronize their bars unless they pay $65 at the entrance. As the owner of a nightclub and travel agent, I have never heard of this before. People control the age of persons they sell alcohol to not their patrons who visit and patronize them.

The Canadians said they read a lot about the owners of Maho (Sonesta Group) and they thought that they were exemplary business people but experiencing the Sonesta Group is so much different from what you read online. The travel agent who is also the owner of a huge night club in Canada said he will have to make sure that TRIPADVISOR aware of the services that are provided by the Sonesta Maho Group of Companies. He said when people pay their monies and to go on vacations they expect to have a good time and not to be treated as third world citizens at a place that calls themself a 5 Star Resort.
