SMMC continues Legal War against Inspectorate.

Philipsburg:--- The St. Maarten Medical Center (SMMC) has chosen to use their funds to continue waging legal warfare against the Inspectorate rather than improving Health Care on St. Maarten. According to information reaching SMN News, the SMMC filed another injunction against the Inspectorate on Friday at the Court of First Instance.

The case is expected to be heard sometime next week. SMN News learnt that SMMC is fighting against the list of demands the inspectorate levied against the SMMC and also the fines for failure to comply with the demands given to SMMC on October 12th, 2012.

The Inspectorate released the list of demands during a press conference last week and SMMC has to comply with the first demand by October 26th, 2012 or face a fine of $500.00 per day to a maximum of $50,000. The Inspectorate also asked for an action plan but to date that plan has not been delivered to the inspectorate. Efforts made to reach members of the Supervisory Council of the St. Maarten Medical Center on Monday evening proved futile since the members of the Supervisory Council could not be reached by phone.
