MARIGOT:--- The Prefet of St. Martin Serge Gouteyron has implemented a curfew as of Sunday, May 30th from 8 pm to 6 am. The restricted movement of people will be maintained until June 9th, 2021.
Travel will no longer be authorized from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m meaning the Gendarmes will be controlling at several check-points. Persons that must move around during the curfew must have attestation in their position, said Geouteyron. There will be no border closures but stricter controls will take place.
Opening hours for bars and restaurants were also modified on May 25th whereby all these establishments must close their doors by 11 pm instead of midnight.

While the Prefecture of Saint Martin and the ARS has announced that there have been an increased amount of new cases on a weekly basis they have not released the total number of active cases that are currently being monitored.
The website “worldometer” has recorded 1,915 positive cases since March 2020, with 12 deaths, 1,399 persons recovered with 504 Active cases.

Gouteyron told reporters that " it is a measure that he must take in view of the worrying evolution of the incidence rate, which is 343 per 100,000 inhabitants, and the positivity rate which is 6.40%.

Figures which would have doubled compared to last week, and which led the Prefet Gouteyron to quickly take additional measures "based on data from the hospital which are also very worrying, since 8 patients are there, and 2 deaths occurred in 48 hours . The Prefet specifies that the measure taken is "balanced" since during the day he will maintain life on this territory".
During the day, the activity will be maintained, with the exception of gatherings and demonstrations which were authorized on an exceptional basis, since exemptions were possible.
A border control system will be set up by the gendarmerie, from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., "without closing the border," reports Prefe tot Gouteyron. Provided you have a compelling reason and a certificate justifying that the trip is motivated.
