MULLET BAY:--- Sam Bashir, Safin Bashir, and Tony Lake took top honors during the annual three-person team scramble at the Mullet Bay Golf Course scoring a Net 62.
This event organized by the St Maarten Golf Association SMGA drew 17 teams of 3 golfers to the course on Saturday as all teams fought a very close and competitive battle. Between the winners and the last placing team was only a 10 stroke difference.
The Team of Clive Youlten, Bill Oliver, and Steve Oostrom came in second with the same net score as the first team, however placed second due to a lower handicap. In third place were Kasper Lendering, Cyril Pfennings, and Gregor with a net score of 64.
The great turnout reflected the eagerness felt across St Maarten and St. Martin to normalize sports events after the challenging year of 2020.
In the coming months, the SMGA will continue to organize tournaments in a responsible manner with respect to the current pandemic and contribution to youth sports in general.
