Customs intercepts contraband at PJIAE on Friday.

PHILIPSBURG:--- During a routine control on March 5th, 2021, Customs Officers at the Princess Juliana International airport once again intercepted 3 heavy sports bags, with packages which raised suspicions by the officers. After intensive research, it resulted that the packages contained cocaine which was destined for Europe.
All the bags with contraband were confiscated. This case was turned over to the Alpha team, which is a joint team consisting of Customs, Police, KMAR, and Coastguard. This joint team is currently busy with a full investigation. This is the reason why no further information can be given. Arrests can be made soon.
Despite the fact that we are still faced with the COVID-19 pandemic, Customs Department will continue as a team to intensify controls at both airport/harbor facilities, yachts, and all docks for illegal goods entering or leaving the island.
As soon as more information is available an update will be given.
