CLIENTS CELEBRATED AT CIBC FIRSTCARIBBEAN.

cibc20062018PHILIPSBURG:--- Clients throughout the region were celebrated at CIBC FirstCaribbean, as it honored one of its businesses’ pillars and marked Client Appreciation Day on Friday June 15th.

As the bank’s doors opened in St. Maarten on Friday, clients were greeted by CIBC FirstCaribbean Country Manager, Garth Sherwood with gifts of appreciation. Mr. Sherwood thanked the clients for being part of the CIBC FirstCaribbean family, for their continued confidence and stated that “the bank looked forward to a long and beneficial relationship with them”. Clients were treated to breakfast and other tokens of appreciation throughout the day.

The bank also recently celebrated employee appreciation day on May 15th, the second pillar on which CIBC FirstCaribbean stands. The history of CIBC in the region is expansive, having been in the Caribbean since 1920. The first branches were established in Bridgetown, Barbados and in Kingston, Jamaica. In the same year, branches were also opened in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Havana, Cuba.

FirstCaribbean International Bank was formed in 2002 with the merger of CIBC West Indies Holdings and Barclays Bank PLC Caribbean operations. In December 2006, CIBC acquired the Barclays share and became the majority shareholder in FirstCaribbean.

On June 20, 2011 the bank became co-branded under the CIBC banner, adopting the branding CIBC FirstCaribbean International Bank.
