PHILIPSBURG:--- MP Francisco Lacroes informed Parliament on Tuesday morning that the employee who suffered severe burns while working at Sonesta Maho Resort has died in Colombia.
During notifications at the start of the Central Committee meeting on the draft 2027 budget, Lacroes offered condolences to the family of the man he identified as Wayne Drummett. He said Drummett died at approximately 12:30 a.m. Tuesday in Colombia and that he learned of the death when he woke at 6:00 a.m.
“On behalf of the United People’s Party, my family, I send out condolences to you,” Lacroes said.
The Police Force of Sint Maarten reported on September 20 that a male employee had sustained severe burns during maintenance work at the resort that Sunday morning. Emergency personnel responded, and they transported the employee for further treatment. Police said the circumstances remained under investigation, with the Fire Department responsible for determining the cause. The preliminary police report showed no indication of criminal activity.
