PHILIPSBURG:--- In the early hours of Monday, March 2, 2026, a tragic incident on Arlet Peters Road (commonly known as Old Cake House Road) claimed the lives of two individuals. The Police Force of Sint Maarten (KPSM) is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the event, which occurred shortly after 3:30 a.m.
Central Dispatch received multiple reports of an overturned SUV near the entrance of Arlet Peters Road. Responding swiftly, several patrol units arrived at the scene to find a gray SUV flipped over. Both the male driver and a female passenger were discovered unresponsive inside the vehicle. Despite immediate efforts, both were pronounced deceased at the scene.
Initial findings by the Traffic Department have raised concerns that the incident may not be purely accidental. Evidence collected at the site has prompted suspicions of potential criminal involvement. Consequently, the Detective Department was called in to further investigate the matter.
The area was cordoned off to facilitate a thorough forensic investigation. Authorities have assured the public that additional details will be shared as the investigation progresses.
