Survey in Sint Maarten among local businesses on the effects of red tape.

WILLEMSTAD/PHILIPSBURG:--- On February 21, 2022, the Centrale Bank van Curaçao en Sint Maarten (CBCS) will launch, in collaboration with the St. Maarten Chamber of Commerce & Industry (COCI), an online survey among businesses and institutions in Sint Maarten on the effects of red tape on business performance and economic growth. This survey is part of a study on the effects of administrative burden in both Curaçao and Sint Maarten.
Randomly selected entities in Sint Maarten will receive an email from the CBCS’s Research Department on Monday, February 21, 2022, with an invitation to participate in the online survey. The survey will take approximately 10 minutes to complete. The CBCS would like to request the cooperation of these selected entities to complete the survey before March 7, 2022. The survey is anonymous, and all collected data and information will be kept strictly confidential.
The aim of the study is to gain insight into the effects of red tape on the private sector. Specifically, the costs in terms of time and money associated with compliance to administrative procedures and regulations will be measured. The survey will include questions regarding the application for operating license, building permits, and labor permits. The CBCS conducted this similar survey in Curaçao in November 2021. The CBCS aims to publish the results of the study this year in a report that addresses issues regarding compliance with administrative procedures in Curaçao and Sint Maarten and recommendations for improvement.
The CBCS would like to thank all selected entities in advance for their participation in the survey.
