One Arrested for Attempted Murder --- Gypsy Taxi Driver charged.

Marigot:--- A 27-year-old man was arrested and transferred to Guadeloupe on June 24th. The man is a suspect of the attempted murder of a 14 year old boy from Sandy Ground. A press release from the Gendarmerie states that on Friday June 22, 2012 the minor victim was seriously injured with a machete and transported to hospital. The attacker escaped on a scooter but was caught by Gendarmes later that evening.
In an unrelated case, a 41-year old man was arrested by the Gendarmes on Tuesday during a routine traffic control. The suspect was plying the illegal gypsy taxi trade when he was caught. A press release from the Gendarmerie states that the suspect will be charged with various traffic offenses and he will be summoned to appear in court at a later date.
The suspect was caught in the vicinity of Hope Estate around 6am on Tuesday morning. He was stopped when the Gendarmes noticed that the driver was overtaking two vehicles dangerously. The driver even attempted to make a U-turn to escape the gendarmes by driving around some containers. However, he was apprehended. Upon inspection, the gendarmes discovered that the passenger inside the vehicle was paying for the ride while the driver of the vehicle had no driver's license. The vehicle has been confiscated. The driver was slapped with several charges ranging from refusing to cooperate with law enforcement, driving without a driver's license, while engaging in an illegal activity, exercising in an artisanal activity without being registered to any official trade organization or company, transporting persons illegally without authorization, and driving dangerously.
