Middle Eastern Seaman Grounded WINAIR Twin Otter in St. Eustatius on Thursday.

Philipsburg:--- Police on St. Eustatius had their hands full while WINAIR had several flight delays due to a Middle Eastern seaman who boarded the first WINAIR flight on Thursday morning. SMN News learnt that the seaman was on board a WINAIR twin otter which he boarded on St. Maarten to join an oil tanker in St. Eustatius. According to information provided to SMN News, the passenger pulled the emergency handle in the aircraft as it was landing and that caused some severe back up for WINAIR. Sources from within the company said that the seaman took off running through the arrival hall but he was later captured by police and questioned. Up to press time there was no report from the Police on St. Eustatius to say whether or not the passenger was kept in custody or if he was released. SMN News learnt WINAIR had to send another aircraft with a mechanic to replace the emergency exit door which was disabled by the passenger.
