Education Minister Refuses Divulge Detailed Information on Ongoing Investigation at Education Department.

silveriajacobs03102012Philipsburg:--- During the Council of Ministers' weekly press briefing on Wednesday Minister of Education Silveria Jacobs admitted that there is an investigation taking place at the Department of Education. Minister Jacobs said that the department head is not under investigation but she refused to say if the department head was sent on inactive duty. However, she did say that the Department Head Glenderlin Davis Holiday is not suspended. The investigation is not targeting the department instead it is geared towards the operations of the department. Minister Jacobs said that the Council of Ministers tried to handle the matter in a confidential way. Minister Jacobs further explained that the inquiry will take at least 30 days and when the report becomes available more information will be released.

When SMN News reporter informed the Minister that the union representing the civil servant Windward Island Civil Servants Union (WICSU/PSU) already made a statement to SMN News regarding the sending home of their member, Minister Jacobs maintained that the rights of civil servants are private and she will not divulge any information. She also said that a committee was formed to conduct the investigation but the members of the committee will not be identified.
