agreementtocombattaxfraud06022012GREAT BAY (DCOMM):--- On Wednesday, February 1st, an agreement with the purpose of strengthening administrative co-operation in the field of taxation was signed between the Attorney-General, the Chief Public Prosecutor, the acting Head of Fiscal Affairs and the Head of the Tax Administration Sint Maarten.

This agreement will contribute to the prevention and effective combating of tax fraud through co-operation and the exchange of information that is relevant to the determination, assessment and collection of taxes, the recovery and enforcement of tax claims and the investigation or prosecution of tax matters.

Regular meetings are planned and a policy plan will be drafted with the priorities being laid on investigation and prosecution of tax fraud cases.

The strengthened co-operation between the different organizations must ensure better enforcement of the tax laws. This initiative is a prerequisite to further improve tax compliance.

Agree with both previous remarks. Nothing was done about Glen Carty's declaration and nothing will be done regarding foreign investors or European Dutch. They are making the small man pay for what he never had to begin with. They need to start checking their staff and see where the fraud begins, right there. They also need to start taxing those with condominiums and those renting their villas in Lowlands for ridiculous amounts of money before hara*sing the common man. Find a way to tax those so called off-shore companies who pay next to nothing in taxes.

Again we see another example where country status has brought us another European Dutch replacing our highly trained local St. Maartener as Head, while we have other locally trained persons who could easily have held the job. Why do we send our children to be educated in Holland, get the experience and then when they return to their island, they are being replaced by Dutch Europeans? We couldn't get a job above any of them in Holland, yet our foolish politicians are allowing them to take every decent job that our people are qualified to do and have been doing. NONE OF YOU DARE COME TO MY HOUSE ASKING FOR A VOTE, NEXT ELECTION. I'm saving a pot of piss for the ones who dare step infront my door!

The Attorney General, the Prosecutor and the head of taxes are going to have a tough time sorting out and revealing all the hidden offshore companies. Maybe the golden boys people in the Chamber of Commerence might hide a few selected businesses from the prying tax officials eyes? Oh well. It is at least a start, a challenge, to get behind all this fancy footwork and roadblocks being constructed by our golden maestro boy to block the tax department.
You got your work cut out for you,we the people hope you find these 4000 businesses without a crib number. Ask them to kindly pay their fair share and meet the responsibility and help shoulder the weight of our financial burdens. No more tax breaks for foreign investors and developers that add nothing to our governments coffers, this 10 year tax break is not in our advantage anymore (they change the name every 10 years), we don't need any new development, our house is full. Imagine a country where everyone pays their fair share of the taxes, imagine the social programs we could have, better schools, repair roadwork, build a sewage waste plant ? Wow.... let me calm myself down and not get to excited.

I motion we table a citizens agreement to combat fraud, corruption, lies, deception and embezzlement of taxes by our "elected" government, might be the correct place to start.
