Family Dream Supermarket Robbed --- Suspect Caught, Weapon and Money Confiscated.

crimescenetape13022011Cole Bay:--- A Simpson Bay police patrol managed to nab a young robber who robbed Family Dream Supermarket on Thursday morning at gun point. Family Dream is located on Well Road, Cole Bay.
According to reports reaching SMN News, the culprit was arrested on the spot and the weapon that was used to rob the supermarket was confiscated.
SMN News has been reliably informed that the culprit was shot by one of the officers when he attempted to escape. It should also be noted that Fresh Pond Supermarket in Sucker Garden was also robbed on Monday night. However to date, no information on that robbery has been made available by the police department.

A press release issued by the Police Spokesman Ricardo Henson states that on Thursday at approximately 10:00am, a Simpson Bay Police patrol, while driving on the Well Road in Cole Bay was stopped by some bystanders who informed the patrol that an armed robbery was ongoing in the Family Dream Supermarket located on the same road. As the officers stepped out of the vehicle they saw an unknown person, with a black cloth partially covering his face and a handgun in his right hand leaving the supermarket. This person started walking rapidly in the direction of Narrow Drive. The officers ordered the suspect to stop on several occasions, however, he refused to do so and started running away. One officer then fired a shot at the suspect hitting him in his right leg and the suspect fell to the ground. The suspect was apprehended on the scene and his weapon and along with the stolen cash were confiscated for further investigation. The suspect with initials D.L. from Jamaica, is 17 years old and lives in the Cole Bay area. He was treated on the scene by paramedics and then transported to the Sint Maarten Medical Center for further treatment. The Special Robbery Unit and Forensic Department are investigating this matter.
