In an unrelated incident, on Saturday at 1:00pm, three Gendarmes were slightly injured in French Quarter while trying to control a group of a dozen youths who threw stones at them. The incident sparked when the Gendarmes controlled a motorcycle rider. The group escaped as Gendarmes attempted to arrest one of the leaders.
A subsequent control in the district at 1:30pm with detectives, drug control agents, and the Police Territorial led to the seizure of crack cocaine and several scooters. Several summons were issued for aggravated violence with weapons.
The Gendarmerie noted that these controls will be intensifying in the coming weeks.
