Two Injured in Traffic Accident.

acc1Cole bay:--- The traffic department is busy investigating the cause of an accident which has left two scooters riders with injuries. Police said an accident occurred during the morning hours not far from the Dutch and French Border on Union Road.
Police said a two private cars with license plates 991ZAV 971 and 930ZAX971 and a scooter without any license plate.
It is said the driver of the 930ZAX971 was heading towards and the scooter on which two young men were riding. It is understood that the driver of the 930ZAX971 at a certain moment shifted from a large hole in the street to avoid damage to his car. The rider of the scooter also shifted from this hole. At that same time the car with license plate 991ZAV971 was driving in the opposite direction. The scooter collided head-on with the on coming traffic. As a result both passengers of the scooter were thrown from the scooter. they both complained of pain in their legs and had possibly suffered fractures. They were taken by ambulance to the St Maarten Medical Center for treatment. An eyewitness stated that the young men possibly were in the possession of a gun and had thrown it into the bushes after the accident. An intense search was carried out to locate this weapon, but nothing was found.
acc2Both young men who have medical insurance on the French side were taken by ambulance to the French side.
This traffic accident caused major traffic congestion however after about an hour traffic was back to normal.
