UP and DP do make a good team unlike the bunch of NA clowns and wanna be politricktians.

Better yet, if na was to win out right i wonder how the island of sxm would run without the people paying taxes on nothing at all.

Strong message
September, 17, 2010, 20:22
200.7.48.201
Votes: +1

The people have sent a strong message.

1. NA is still not the people's choice;
2. William Marlin is definitely not the people's choice.
3. DP has definitely disappointed the the people;
4. Sarah is still a strong people's choice
5. Sarah should have re-think her candidates choice.

So yes, NA might pull the votes but judging by the electorate, when combining the 3 other parties, the people do not give NA the mandate to lead us into Country status.

But knowing William and his sheep, they don't give a heck as long as they are in power.

Yes, I am a sour loser but I am willing to give whoever a fair chance to try and salvage whatever there is to salvage.

If it is William, I do hope that, looking at the results, he will learn to humble himself and put SXM and it's people first.

But there is still a little ray of hope looming over the horizon, lol.

@ vote buying

So you want to tell me that only THEO or UP spend a lot of money on campaigning? LOL.

What about them huge billboards NA and in particular William had up? And all the give aways?

I saw a car, full to capacity with persons from the D.R. and have their plywood sheets on the roof of their old toyota car, holding down by hand with their white flags flying high and mighty, LOL.

Just in case you don't know the results: William 1.512 votes - Theo 2.687 votes
LOL, almost 2 x as much as William.

Total votes for the 3 other parties combined 6.877 votes - NA 5.793 votes over a thousand more votes.

Come again? THEO DID NOT WIN A DAMN ELECTION? guess the joke is on you.

It ain't over yet, Theo holds the power in his hands for this election my friend. LOL.

Congratulations is also in place to the 4 party leaders, especially to Jeffrey and Theo. Great job guys. Theo, please humble yourself and put the people first and God will do the rest. Jeffrey, you are a force to be reckoned with and you will be back.

Well look...with all three parties combines N.A. was just about 1000 votes less. This says that N.A. took all the votes. The people was clear in their choice who they wanted. Theo and Sarah are the only people who bring in votes for their party. On top of it the UP party had so much candidates it had also seems impossible that any other party would get a seat. I'm just glad we got a government with all 3 parties in it!

Yes, the people have spoken loud and clear. The majority of the people voted AGAINST the NA (7405 voters=8 seats from the UP and DP). So now it is time to form a government and the vote of the people has to be respected. That's means UP and DP in government and NA out for good. NO WAY the DP will work with Mr. Arrogant, William Marlin. I can't wait.

That is why I mentioned that there is still a ray of hope, LOL. NA supporters do not really understand the results of the election. They did not stand still to wonder why Mr. Arrogant was not giving his usual charming, arrogant, trademark smile as he addressed them after the results.

He actually sounded like he was reprimanding them when he said "I had asked for a majority", meaning landslide, so you know he kind of pissed of right now. And then his comment about "this is a political game" which he correctly quickly saying "I mean this is politics", LOL.

I enjoyed the evening and this whole political drama.

But to be honest, with the politicians we have, it might not be a bad idea to have all 3 parties in government, lol, to keep a watchful eye on each other.

But yeah, if any coalition then my hopes are for UP and DP. Listen to the people you two.

All parties and all governments have made mistakes.

NA has at times fail to put the people first, but succeeded in pushing through the accord

DP began the process to end ties with Curacao and the Netherlands Antilles, but how many times have agreements and accords been signed without them knowing what they were signing

UP no historical track record, but Gracita is much better opposition leader (critique) than a governing (regering) leader

I see the owrd country being thrown around alot.

IT IS NOT A COUNTRY OR COUNTRY STATUS!!!

We do not meet the criteria set by international law to be such. We will become an autonomous land... NOT a country.

It is disheartening to see that the majority of people are still very much uninformed about the implications and repercussions of 10-10-10.

Theo out spend himself on election day to get into Government, he was on a shopping spree, he bought his votes up to the last minute at 6:00 pm in the afternoon. This goes to show a leader like theo will sell us out at the last minute also. He had his cashiers pleding and begging the NA and DP voters to change their mind for $500 and more. The people sold their rights and their vote at the last minute. A bunch of foreigners that where money hungry, these foreigners do not care about us and our struggles. We need a leader that can stand up and face the music and do right by us. The wheeling and dealing has to stop. We need strong St Maarteners that can guide this ship to safety. We need educated polticians to make this all happen. Politicians that care for us. Politicians that will stay strong to their promises and ideas. A man that can buy you out with money is a man that will sell you to the highest bidder.

Herald reports " NA leader William Marlin has indicated that he will begin talks with the two other parties on Saturday on forming the new government."

Isn't that somewhat presumptuous? If UP and DP align, do they not have the power to govern? Theo won the popular vote. I would like to see him have the chance to show what he can do.

Having said that, it seems extraordinary that people who got as little as 120 votes (6% of the voters) should be elected to govern our lives. When Ministers are selected, other parliamentarians, possibly with less than 100 votes, will join the government to dictate our fate. That's scary.

I hate to hear people talking about certain politicians don't like black people. What about some of those who are on NA list. Who, more than Dominicano's don't like the "negra's"? They look at the white south americans as their role models, so the lighter you are the nicer you are.

Please, Sarah and Maria come from mixed parents with "Black" mothers, who they have a great relationship with. But you fools just look at the outer cover and judge. Didn't NA finally try to recruit "none black" candidates on their lists? Why is Frans the # 2 man on the list? Please stop your nonsense.
Is William only to govern the black people of this Island? Then he should make this clear.

I am a black person, who lived the DP mentality and made something of myself for years, since I was a young person. I own my own business and hire locals. You people who feel people don't like black people are the ones who just want a handout and are to coward to try and build up your own self instead of always begging politicians for everything. They give you the way and the means, use it. Dam it.

To vote buying. All parties were accused of this. So enough already. Marlin was pissed when Blackman gave him the report on how many people had received "payouts" FROM NA and how many voted FOR NA. It did not match up. THAT IS WHY HE EXPECTED TO WIN WITH A LANDSLIDE.

I hope Theo and Sarah also read these comments and use their heads wisely. We the people want a government that is not afraid to tell people like it is, not spoil them and do what it takes to take care of all races, religions, sexes and people in general.

We want our "ring road", not a "cricket field", we want our "bridge across the lagoon", not a "race track", we want proper representation, not leaders who steals other's hard work and ideas to get honors. WE WANT A "UPP/DP COALITION", not a "NA/MC.S COALITION!!!!!!!!!!"

a lot of hear say , he say and she say. One of the people wrote a 'strong message' in his/ her comment that Marlin was pissed others says Theo say was dissing out $500 to buy people.

It could well be so but I did not see/ experience it. What I did see was :
- A man who loves SXM and wat to take SXM UP just neglect his task in the government so that he can focus 100% on his campaign leaving the other politicians with a bigger burden to run SXM just in the time when they have their hands full with 10-10-10
- I did see A man who loves SXM who decided not to go to the round table talks in the Netherlands to fight for SXM to go UP in the new country status because no one invited him.
- I did see a man who decided together with his partners to hire a new Parliament building for millions of dollars but when the time come to defend he was no where in sight and let the other team take sole responsibility.

It's look to me like he more going UP then the people of SXM.

I am just mentioning what i see/ read in the newspapers and heard him say. Please correct me if I am wrong with my facts and if he didn't say/ do the things I said.
