Marigot: --- Despite hiring several persons who claimed to be journalist or maybe ‘jack of all trades" to manage the communications department of the COM, there is simply no communication from those who are paid to do the job. Information from the Collectivity is now suppressed from this media house since certain political appointees does not want the truth to reach the people of this island. Press releases are hardly readable, and on many occasions sent out late or not at all.
Sometimes journalists are called at the last moment to be told that something is going on at the Collectivity that needs to be covered. The President of the Collectivity Frantz Gumbs in an interview with SMN News on Thursday last week said if there is one thing they (UPP) failed to do is to communicate with the people who elected them. Gumbs said that one may think they who are elected are not working but the reality of the matter is the persons who were hired to manage the communications department have missed the mark. He said just recently they hired a new person to take over communications however, that person who is new to the island is busy with familiarizing herself with the island and the various media houses.
Yesterday we at SMN News understand several stakeholders have decided to meet at the Hotel de la Collectivity to brain storm on finding a solution the crime situation. Unfortunately the new head of communications and the present person who has been in charge these past months did not remember to call us or send an email to say there was an urgent meeting and press conference. Or maybe this person who is now the decision maker has decided not to invite us because the truth hurts. That truth is how they are spending tax payer monies on themselves while the youths of this island is fully neglected. Neglected to the point where the president has said there is nothing much can be done to change the present trend of the youths.

Now, do you think that the President can do anything for youths who don't even care about themselves.

What is the matter in going and continuing school to get an education.

NOOOOOOO, the education is being on the block, selling drugs.

Last week the army was recruting 50 youths for jobs how many showed up .....40. and ...20 for the test.

How much can the goverment do when some parents are absentee.

Yes the Collectivity can clean up the block that they have right at their door. Yes they put them out of the park now they are on the other side.

It is good to blame the goverment but .... we as parents have take our responsabilities as well.

To Frustrated
Had the Collectivity did thier job in communicating with the youths and parents then they would have been there. To say the least you are now criticizing parents today, while you criticized the past admin over the years so your party could get in. We the workers can stand your guts,, you pretend to know everything while you could not make sure your party leader do his paper work.

TO LOL
Invited to hear what? that the UPP dont know how to handle the people's affair. Instead they taking tax payers monies to use in Hustlers Club... Or maybe you were one of the three that was there....Oops

S.O.S. french stmartin in deep trouble with this new government.

i agree wit 2 of the commentators "parent are resonsible first and formost" and this new body of so said elected personalities r taking away thier responsibility on tashing everyone else except themselve.
we had the 'father of the status LCF' who could 'do the paper work' and he was kick out and for as a result prize he is now a lazy senator who travel back and foward on tax payers monies and reports nothing. then we had the 1st VP who lasped out because of greed of position, so we lost 'our sister in crime who first betrayed her team, the confidence of the people, and shamed the RRR leader and his team who stood for her by voting for "papa", who doesn't care about no one but himself. And then our monies ended up somewhere in a hustler nite club in France.

you say that nothing can be done for the youths, with examples at the top like them, slandering, hostling, criticizing their staff @ the Collectivite and the people of this country, not forgetting hiring other so many outsiders who have shown one slite change to this country. oooooo forgive me, there was a change, they give them freem houses, no rent, free cars, and some even travel back and forwards to guadeloupe every weekend to spend time with their family and comes back on monday to so say run the Collectivite, while sleeping with some of the staff members. Another good example tolerated by the top heads, because they are doing the same.

so people of this country, don't think communication isn't working, u just don't know about it,

SO MY QUESTION IS, "who can we depend on to help us out of this shit whole? When the representative say nothing can be done for the youths. Ask yourself, can they do somehing for anyone of us? or are they picking and choosing who will be helped. Not StMartiners for sure.

now i heard that the person responsible for communicaton should grow up and know that the duty of a journalist is to report the truh, you job, as reminded should be to host as much as possible press conferences and encourage more communication internaly, externaly in order to put up to speed ur people and not throw petty children word or twisted daggers at the media. how stupid could that person be. do you not know tha the media could build you or break you. the more you hide behind your words, the media will pick at you until they find a flaw and you who know who are have many that no quatity of water in the sea can wash away.

so i final advice to our so call heads of gorvnment stop pointing the finger at other do you job which you asked us to vote for you for. put a real program in place, stop hiring people for their butty or family wise AND GET TO WORK this country cann't support anymore childplay.

and fix ur communication department wit real people and not idots.

Well I agree with the comments above nothing is done for the saint martin ppl. First of all, I have written many letters to the newspapers, yet, the UPP list don't seem to wake up, such as M.OGOUNDELE, LCF, D GIBBS, omg what a shame these ppl have failed miserably and have fallen so hard yet they don't have no dignity. Oh well, as we all know, they don't care about the island nor the youths. So like they say in french: Lorsque la loi est injuste, la désobeissance est un droit." We have to fight, yet not violently but with the education we have worked so hard to get and showed those incompetent 'jacks of all trades' that their presence in politics were just a stepping stool to a success.
