Former Senator endorses Johnson --- Young professional should be supported.

Philipsburg:--- "I would like to officially endorse the youngest candidate in the early Island Council elections for St. Maarten, Stuart Johnson. He is an outstanding educator and professional. The former Senator and Member of Parliament for the Island Territory of Saba Mr. Ray Hassell has publicly endorsed Johnson who is running on the slate of the Democratic Party of St. Maarten. Johnson is running as the seventh candidate, with the other twenty-two candidates under the leadership of Mrs. Sarah Wescot-Williams. "Stuart has the drive, the determination, and the decisiveness to represent the people of St. Maarten by helping to lead them into the new Country status and beyond," remarked Hassell. "I have been able to follow Mr. Johnson throughout his educational journey especially since, he has never forgot to give back to the communities of St. Maarten and Saba by volunteering."Hassell also served as the Vice President of the Parliament of the Netherlands Antilles and served for twelve years as a member of parliament. He was a strong coalition partner, who was dependable, trustworthy, and loyal, and had the respect of all members of parliament. "Surely, I would be there every step of the way for advice and guidance in the campaign trail for Mr. Johnson, as we need young professionals to be in Government. Once elected by the support and confidence of the voters, I will be available to guide him on related matters and to continue fostering a closer relationship with the Island territory of Saba and Country St. Maarten," said Hassell. He went on to say, "Johnson has strong Saban family roots, and has always been able to come back to his second home." Now surely isn't the time for us to divide but we must unite by showing confidence in the ability of our young professionals. The Netherlands Antilles as a Country will be dissolved, but our cultural and family ties on all of the respective islands will never be broken. "I am urging the people of St. Maarten, and those residents able to vote from Saba, to support Johnson's candidacy. He has always been committed to working in the best interest of everyone and he would be able to do so even more in Government," concluded Hassell.
