Philipsburg -- Students of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Primary School Grade 4 visited the Domino's Pizza facilities on the Bush Road, early Thursday morning. "I applaud Domino's Pizza for allowing us the opportunity of taking our students on an exciting and educational trip, whilst learning how to make their very own pizza," remarked Teacher Stuart Johnson.
Manager of Domino's Pizza Heather Caputo guided the students throughout the hour long tour and lecture, whereby they got to hear countless factual facts regarding Domino's Pizza worldwide. Johnson added, "It goes to show when schools and businesses work together, our children benefit in several ways, by equipping our students with the value of hands on learning."

The students were treated to the pizza's they made, sodas and a special lava desert cake. Upon completion of the educational tour the students received a certification which awarded them the title of "Junior Pizza Maker."
Johnson thanked the management and staff of Domino's Pizza for making this educational trip possible and extremely worthwhile. The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Primary School is a public school located in the district of Dutch Quarter with a student population of over two hundred and twenty students.

I think it is cute and PATHETIC the "election campaign" Mr. Johnson is running.

How many teachers/schools of all levels take their students on field trips every year, yet they rarely IF EVER "advertise" it in the form of a press release through the media.

Mr. Johnson is shrewd in that he is keeping his name "out there" every week. He's trying to appear as though he cares and is actively involved improving his community.

I'd be inclined to believe him, IF he wasn't trying so hard.

JUST ANOTHER POLITICIAN! (shaking my head)

Field trip for school kids to Domino's Piizza?????? What a waste of time! Take them somewhere healthy. Like the Health Tree or something like that. Can someone please put stuart on a plane back to Saba? He has nothing to do here. Just polluting our society! I agree with you Sigh.

What about Domino's Pizza is educating to our students??? How about them visiting the airport, hospital, university or medical center. I mean come on, areas where we need them to work in. Expose them to these sectors....We don't want PIZZA-makers.

And I mean why does the public need to know about Stuart Johnson taking his students to Domino's Pizza??? Come on Stuart, inform the public who are the top students of your cla*s and have them speak to the media about how they feel to be the TOP a di top

To all of the above:

First of all Domino's Pizza had an ongoing activity involving all elementary schools. Each school was sent a letter inviting them to expose the students to Domino's Pizza for a fun actitvity. Mr. Johnson's school was not the only school which accepted the offer from Dominoes. A number of schools did.

To the person that asked, "what about Domino's Pizza is educating to our students?" I feel extremely sorry for your child/children. If you paid attention to what happens in school when your child is learning fractions, you will know that a pizza is used most of the time. You call that hands on learning.

Going to Domino's Pizza is experiencial learning. Now they are able to use what they learned in the cla*sroom outside of the cla*sroom. Math, Science, and Social Studies were covered in one lesson. That's what you call an Integrated lesson.

The idea is not to make pizza makers but to give the children a fun learning experience which they dont get most of the times at home.
