bbwtrucks21032010Great Bay – The premier local construction materials supply company on St. Maarten, BBW is relocating to Sucker Garden. The company's offices and operations will now be located on the Arch Road.

As a public statement regarding its commitment to St. Maarten, the company has decided to place and always maintain, a large St. Maarten flag on the top it's tallest cement silo, which forms part of BBW's recent installation of its new and modern Ready mix Concrete plant. The two white Cement silos at the company's new location, are visible from Philipsburg, Cul de Sac, Fort Willem and adjacent areas.

The relocation comes after almost 50 years of the company's operation venue being located on the airport road, in close proximity of the Princess Juliana International Airport. The company, which at present employs 20 persons, is in the process of finalizing most of the activities related to the relocation. The process is expected to be completed by the end of this week.

By the time that St. Maarten was beginning to experience its economic boom in the 70s and 80s, BBW had already made a name for itself as the island's premiere construction materials supplier.

BBW has been involved in various large and smaller-sized construction projects in St. Maarten over the course of the past decades.

In an industry that BBW over the years has set the standard for customers whose demand are for high quality Ready Mix Concrete, blocks, sand, gravel and cement, at good prices, on time deliveries, consistent and good customer service, BBW remains committed to its St. Maarten community and are here to stay.

With the bold move to relocate, the company envisions a new chapter in its development, allowing them to provide even better service to the community of St. Maarten.
The company pledges to continue offering quality products at the most competitive prices, with a service level second to none. BBW we are here for you St. Maarten!

Thanks Mr. W. Marlin,

Do you remember receiving a letter concerning the relocation of BBW years ago when it was first about them coming to Ph'burg? You got back into govt to finish your promise to whomever. BBW will cause health problems to the people of Town street/over the water (while the guys are playing basket ball on their new court the inhale the cement residue), cayhill, suckergarden. It will now longer cause health issues for those high rise hotels in simpsonbay and the surrounding areas. Thanks for finishing off the few of us that's left. Enjoy your new wealth! smilies/grin.gif smilies/grin.gif smilies/cheesy.gif smilies/angry.gif

It is time to step up.

A cement/ construction company like BBW with a Cement Silo is a company that NEEDS an Environmental Permit. Formaly they have to end the permit they have on their current location, make sure everything is in order then if that is said and done with and agreed upon they will need a new Environmental permit for the new location. As an environmental permit is location bound and where BBW is relocating to there has never been such a company RESEARCH needs to be done if it is possible for such a company to relocate to said area. Mind you this is not a company that sows dresses...but has a huge impact on the environment and its surroundings. A cement Silo for example(danger of explosion)... The extra heavy traffic that is going to be using the roads (are they ready for that abuse) in that area (think of noise, air polution etc)...cleaning area for the trucks, where will this waste go to?...What are the working times of the company? Just to name a few. In fact there are hundreds of things where a company like BBW SHOULD comply to if things are done properly. With the relocation of the company a proper environmental permit should be set up! There should be a Concept Permit which should be visible to the public for a certain amount of time (information evenings) so as concerned residents can be informed and ask questions. Have these things been done? Or has everyone just accepted the fact that such a company is just going to be relocated there. Or did they get a new tv or fridge to just condone this situation? It is time to step up.
I urge the public to stand up, all environmental agencies to monitor this situation carefully and our elected officials of environment to set an example of how things should be done.
