The fall of the 4th Balkenende cabinet spells trouble for the constitutional process.

sarah30122009Philipsburg:--- Former Constitutional Affairs commissioner Sarah Wescot Williams in a press release said while all indications of the last couple of weeks pointed in the direction of a cabinet crisis in Holland, it is rather unfortunate that this happens just now.
The past week also revealed a rift between the Dutch Parliament and the State Secretary of Kingdom affairs, Mrs. Ank Bijleveld with regard to the handling of the constitutional (consensus) Kingdom laws by the same Parliament.
Notwithstanding the State Secretary's admonishment that if 10-10-10 is to be achieved, the Dutch Parliament needs to handle these laws as soon as possible, the same Parliament feels they should set their own agenda.
The Parliament hinted to the handling of these laws in April, at the same time wanting to visit the islands during the month of April and preferably before they deal with the draft laws.
All of this is now up in the air says Wescot Williams.
On March 3rd, there will be local elections in Holland.
In addition to this political barometer, regular elections for the Dutch Parliament were scheduled for late 2010/ early 2011, as the current Dutch Parliamentary term would have ended in February 2011.
The Dutch government was facing some tough baffles before the scheduled elections of 2011. In addition to its international standing on several matters, the budgetary dilemmas facing the cabinet and the need to make drastic cuts were also on the horizon.
What does all of this mean for Sint Maarten?
Already during the discussions of the Second Chamber on the issue of the constitutional Kingdom laws, doubt about St. Maarten was again raised. The government of Sint Maarten's "we are not ready" admission has surely not helped in this respect.
No party in the Netherlands is eager to wage a battle in St. Maarten's defense. There wasn't one before and there surely is none now.
Our best bet under these circumstances?
Close ranks on the constitutional process. Before this is misunderstood; with closing ranks, I do not mean a picture of government and opposition of Sint Maarten sitting shoulder to shoulder at a meeting of the Political Steering Group. This is purely cosmetic.
Close ranks with the opposition and establish a position on matters like the currency, the constitution for Country Sint Maarten, the island budget, the good governance laws ( as prepared by the current opposition (DP) and announced b y government (NA) in July 2009); justice matters, taxes and health.
Yes, probably 10-10-10 is in danger, but the quest for Country Sint Maarten is not.
We need to pursue that quest with all that we have and with all who we have, so that together we can shoulder any disappointment coming our way and remain determined and adamant to see the process to its end.

There is a God to stop the Constitutional process? For Heaven's Sake DP. Come on. You all just a bunch of Jack-a**es. What ever has to happen will happen and what is not to be will not be. That is it. If it means taking a step backwards in order to be able to take 2 steps forward then so be it.
DP should realize that even though they are sitting everyday just sucking their tumb and waiting for something to happen in order to blame the National Alliance for it, the people will never ever vote them back into Government again. So they can wheel and come again, because that will not change. Let William do his work Sarah. When you were in Government you never kept so many Press Conferences to inform the people about anything, because you were not interested in them. But now that you are out of Governemnt you are like a nervous Jackspanier, flying around lokking to sting William every chance you get. Good thing William is a Gentleman or he will be stinging you back every chance he gets, but he does not have time for that. He has a Government to run. A Government that you messed up big time in. If you call what you did when you were there your best then you were just not capable enough to run the Country. So relax and enjoy your retirement Miss Lady and if you brave enough to come back then at least make up a decent list. If I were you I would not come back, because even though we love you as a person, your children and grandchildren love you best.

She is overjoyed that the Dutch cabinet fell...wow...so there will be no 101010. She is getting wicked in her old days. If she dont get to do it then noone else can. what wrong with these power mongers. the Dutch really putting it on us at every turn. Let us wait and see and not wait to gloat like Sarah. She has sold us out and she wants to remain in power to finish us off. DP gone, may they rest in peace. Why don't she just give up and move on. Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.

I am a DP supporter and I was against us rushing into country status. This has nothing to do with who is in Government, the fact is that we are not ready for it. Not when DP was in government and not now when NA is in power. You fools do not understand the seriousness of going Country status. There is a lot to be put in place and rushing this 10.10.10. is the biggest mistake anyone of our political leaders could make. It is God taking charge because no matter how stupid and ignorant we are, HE (GOD) for some reason continue to love us and is trying to save us. He is seeing what so many of you do not see and or understand. We are not ready. Since our political leaders refused to listen to common sense God felt he had to step in. This country status is WAY bigger than any stupid prime minister post etc.
So please back up off Sarah, she did not make the Dutch Govt. fall. She is simply telling you the facts of what YOUR leader is hiding from you.

The fall of the Dutch Government might not delay it but hopefully it will. Let us get our acts together. A date can make all the difference in our very existence. Those who are not from here do not have to care since they can run back home. We SXM'rs and those who refuse to leave SXM have to take a serious interest into what is happening since we will be doomed if this whole process is not done in the right way. Just look around us at all those other Islands. Just ask yourself why we have so many foreigners flocking here to make a better living. If rushed and mistakes are made, we too will have to run to another man's country to try and make a better living. We love SXM and we want to remain here. So to whoever is in Government NOW OR TOMORROW, think about what you are doing and who you are doing it for.

I have noticed that the Exco has gone totally silence now that the crap hitting the fan.

Another interesting point is to see that the New Govt. already realizes that they cannot handle the workload and will need to recruit more comm. to a*sist them in getting things done.
So how come the previous Govt. was being blamed for not getting things done and when they had proposed an increase this was ripped asunder by the then opposition (NA)?

Some people are bashing Sarah (DP) opposition whenever they speak out about what is actually going on now. But those same persons forget how the previous NA opposition tried to break down everything the previous DP government tried to get done. Some blame the DP opposition for picking at the NA Government. What was the NA doing when in opposition? So how come the people wanted to know then and not now? News flash, the majority of the people DO want to know. Sarah had no time to be in the news everyday, just like William has no time now. William had time to suck his thumb now Sarah has time to suck her thumb. Law for one Law for all.

They (NA) had no clue of the hard work it takes to be in government. Now they want pity?
Who in the kitchen feels the heat. So suck it up and get your acts together and do what you say (felt) you could do. Govern the Island. If you cannot even do that how do you intend to govern a country?

In God name ,some thing have to take place when it's every one going to stop what they are doing. We have such a lovely Island with many people from all over ,who enjoy our Island and looking at us why ?.No control no one cant stop what is taking place in St Maarten, We should all take a self check, and ask God to help our Island. And look at the amount of different nationality's in this place is this the way to live...
We should be able to speak words of wisdom, for our children to look up to us as role models and understand, learn and aknolwedge great value to become the leaders for tomorrow.
