This is tragic and heart breaking.... by the looks of the car it is clear the driver was speeding.... because this idiot want to speed and think he is cool a mother and child die.

Lord have mercy on us all at this time of year. Condoleances to the family. People stop speeding it is better to reach late than never. The accident didn't take place in la savane but in the mont vernon area.

It is with deep regret that I learned of the tragic passing of my dear Bingo friend Miss Gemma Renault and her son. To her surviving daughter except our deepest condealances.
Just a week ago Gemma was very happy about her new house and moving to French Quarter, she ordered a number of new comforters to really fix her bedrooms for the X-mas.
I was really shoched and it brought tears to my eyes.
She would be really missed for her laughter and her stories that can really turn a dull moment into a nice piece of comedy and laughter. He dancing and carry on in a spouncy manner was all part of who she was.
She was just Gemma........ Gone too soon. May your soul rest in Peace

i hope that the ones that has been hospitalized is gonna be ok!! the boy and the girl that has been hospitalized is my friend they usted to live right on the side of me in grand case but then the sunday they moved to french quarter and look what happend the poor lil boy been tru so much oparation now look what happen life short you never know what coming for you !!! Please confirm how many deaths, because by this afternoon there is breaking news that a third one ( daughter) passed.
Heavenly father, this is a tragedy. This is unbelievable, but true.

im very sorry to hear bout the of gemma and her son, and the rest of the family that is in critical condition, wen i came home from work tonight, i saw her niece which is neighbour (lazia) telling my mom of the accident, i was shocked. to the the family accept my sympathy, rest in peace

i would say that i am very sorry and i am grieving for Rochelle and her family. this is not a blessed way to look forward to Christmas or start of a new year.

Ok Germa and her kids were sitting in the back seat!! Looking at those pictures, the car slammed into the container back first and then slammed on the driver’s side after. To the friends of the driver how can you sit here and say that the driver is not to blame! So who is?
God is the only person who takes lives according to you, so who is your friend to lead them to their death. Can’t you see this was the work of the devil? God way of dying is peacefully and not tragically. The devil out is on a real.
Why would your friend be speeding with passengers in his car?
He build this speed up from the time he started the car. A car doesn’t drive fast with 5 pp in it. You need to build up that speed. He had to be doing at least 120- 180 He should be charged with murder in the first degree or the same way they made money’s father pay the gendarme deceased wife. He have to take care of the child father and who ever for the rest of their lives. Hum Like always the driver gets away. Your friend took not 1 not 2 but 3 life’s. You should tell your friend commit suicide. Innocent children on their way to school, I don’t even know them but my eyes are full of water. Does your friend have an idea how much we parents struggle with our kids in this life. Don’t sit here defending your friend

Pray people. We need to pray. Stop looking at nationality, skin color and status and PRAY. The devil does not look at skin colors/nationality/status, why should we. trust me, thats some real grievous shit. my self and others in the community are deeply saddened by this trajic accident.honestly the mood is not too pleasant right now. much comfort goes out to family and relatives.

Years ago, I was with a friend (a doctor ) and he was called from Marigot to Phlipsburg for an emergency .He said to me "if I don't get there within 1/2 an hour this patient will die ". Than he started driving normally , maybe just a little faster that he usually did. I told him to speed up and start passing cars. His answer was " if I go faster and get in an accident the patient is definitely going to die . Maybe both of us also. We got there on time and the patient was saved. The morality I've learned from that story is being late is never an excuse to drive fast . Especially on a small island like ours.

J'habite en partie française depuis bientôt 19 ans, je travaille dans une organisation directement liée aux enfants, ce matin ce fut une épreuve difficile pour tout le personnel chargé des enfants un choc parce que nous avons des enfants et sommes parents et amis. Je retiens qu'une seule chose on ne connaît ni l'heure, ni le jour et quand ce jour arrive on ne peut dire qu'on ne veut pas. Peut être par accident, maladie, arrêt cardiaque, crime etc. Ce qui nous aide à tenir c'est notre foi certains sont chrétien et croit en la résurrection ou à une vie meilleure. Si il n'y avait pas cet espoir on deviendrait fou, imaginez la douleur de ce père. C'est dure mais on doit continuer à vivre et certains vivent à deux pas et ne savent pas ce qui c'est passé ce matin là. Imaginez l'indifférence des autres il y a de quoi vous faire mal au coeur. Tout ce qu'il nous faut c'est vivre bien et apporter notre soutien affectif et financier à la famille. OUi financier à la famille, il n'avait pas prévu cela j'en suis sure. Aidez les parce que cela coûte cher un décès il faut plus de 2000euros par personne. BOn courage à la famille

As I said before he is responsible but not to blame... there is a difference.
I'm not defending him because he is my friend... but because i know he is and will always be the one to suffer the most... those people were all very close to him (his in laws)... I'd like to see you live with such a burden... He was the one taking them to school after all...

We have come so far that even using the road as a race track is the norm, blaming God for our irresponsible way of living have become the norm. Sit by the road side and see who are the most irresponsible drivers. Things that we were or are worn for not to do are being seen as good. When bad things happen we should accept it as is. OUR OWN FAULT. COST & EFFECT.

It seems that from what Rochelle said another driver should be called in to give his side of what really happen. He made the curve too wide, causing Rochelle's driver to loose control and go off the road. These situations happen everyday so it is wise to learn defensive driving and pay attention on the roads. Locals but mostly foreign drivers have serious problems driving on Sxm roads. We have a lot of bends, curves and hilly situations on our roads. God knows everything, even before it happens.

Rochelle, im very emotional right now, since im still grieving my mom's death as well, though she was ill. You've been a strong minded person even sitting in my class, and no doubt God will give you the strength to go thru this. Do not hide your emotions, cry when u feel to, this is part of the healing process. Listen you will hear alot of things, but try your best to ignore negative comments and stay away from negative people. Look up to God, because He is the only one who knows why this happened that way, not he drivers or police, no one. Its Ms George, your Grade 5/6 teacher in Colihaut. I don't know where to start... I knew Gemma very well, she was my neighbour for more than a year and we became friend. I can remember always telling her how i admire how she use to take care of Donald being that he had a bad foot problem. He went Gpe to operate and she was so worried, upon return, she nursed her child and always would say she won't leave him alone to suffer from the operation, she loved that child and all the rest as a matter. she used to take care of all the other neighbour hood kids. she was a survivor. When i was pregnant there was an electrical problem in my apartment, she ran a drop cord and made sure i was ok... i will truly miss her laughter and loud voice...
As for the surviving kids, i really want them to pray, prayers is the only thing that will help them get strength.
Don, i can't imagine how u feel, we haven't finish greeving over jo and now this... i will always be there for you.

Upset, I can very well imagine that people are posting silly comments at times on this thread. However, when you call them illiterate, I think that it is downright disrespectful.
If I analyze your spelling and grammar mechanics, I am not too convinced myself that you are more literate than the rest you call illiterate.
Learn to write properly first before you make comments about other people. Or perhaps I think you don't understand the definition of "illiterate". I think you and the Webster's dictionary should become more familiar.

To the family of the deceased, I am horrified about this accident. The problems and grief seem tremendous, but remember that God is in control of everything and He will help you through everything. We should not judge the driver eventhough we might be angry and inclined to do so.
Sympathize with him people, because this young man will most likely end up being a tortured soul among us. He deserves compassion and not any advise to make him feel worse than he is already feeling.
