Hi Bibi,

james05062009Via Oral Gibbes live and SOS 95.9 F.M. of Billy D, I informed the public, that I will no longer continue playing a leading public role any longer in terms of speaking out in the best interest of the people of this island.

For over 25 years, with all the passion in my soul, I took very public stances in defense of my native St. Martin people and I have come to the conclusion based on numerous considerations, that it is time to change course.

This decision has not come easy for me and I hope to live up to this commitment made to the public.

However, I also committed myself to support and assist those who approach me for such, based on a noble cause.

Recognizing the critical importance of an independent, outspoken media outlet for the people of this island, especially during these very trying times to me, is reason enough to support any such platform whose existence is coming under threat.

In addition, I too have become a victim of the powers that is not want our message to be heard.

Cases in point.

The CARIBBEAN CHAMPION weekly publication, of which I was the founder/publisher and which did not survive the 'silent' boycotts.

Then most recently, our radio-program, NATIONtalk,, which was also removed off the air under pressure from politicians and certain immigrant groups.

Now for the record.

If there has ever been a particular media-outlet, which was always available to us without discrimination, it was your site and your person as a journalist.

Based on the above-mentioned, Bibi, I am prepared to offer you whatever support possible under the circumstances.

Let it also be very clear that this support is NOT based on choosing any side in the conflict with the Collectivity.

It is based on the principle that it can not be tolerated that a media platform, on which so many people base their source of information on, can not be closed because a politician or some civil-servant feels offended.

To me even if that is the case, such can never exceed the greater interest of the general public for a broad and free flow of information.

The record has shown, time and again, that your information has been not only very timely, but oftentimes very reliable and it has forced other established outlets to publish your information in order not to appear out of touch.

Leopold JAMES

President SNBF & L'Esprit de Concordia

Gracious of you to offer your support, by not choosing sides, to SMNN, but I have a question Mr. James. Why do you repeatedly lie about your radio show being 'REMOVED' from air. You made that decision yourself, after being told by the station and authorities that you were breaking media laws and needed to moderate and control your show better. You could not take the criticism and instead of using it constructively, you chose instead to get all upset and haughty about it.

I'd have more respect for you if you stopped lying.

Hady

Mr James, i happy to hear you shutting up a bit, whenever you speak, you live in the pa*s reminding us where we were. it is time 4 us to know where we heading, and to educate ourselves accordingly. you keep bashing white folks and i was shock 2 see U R with a white woman. what happen? could not find a good enough native? It is high time for us to stop talking so much and to instead seek to live the words we speaking. And this goes to all "conscious" folks out there profiting of the european system yet still bringing them down with there mouth every chance they get. Show tell our people instead sound principles like as fidelity, integrity, the fear of God Almighty, honesty and truth. we tired hearing 'bout what the non natives doing, we want sound info, constructive ideas and help in getting us there without perpetrating hatred and bitterness in the minds of our already outraged (young) people.
May God bless you in whatever next you are doing, providing it is a positive mission.

I encourage you in your support to smn news, I believe that it is a very good thing. I do not know what you did in the past, but as far as I'm concerned that is exactly where I will leave it, in the past.
As a Saint Martiner I realise that us Saint Martin people have a tendency in bringing down eachother, despite the fact that our island is very small. As I was told by an outsider, we people instead of encouraging and helping one another, we brings us down and treat eachother like dirt!
It is a sad thing that we hate to accept the truth in our faces when we are being exposed, but as it is written: Everything that has been done in the dark, will come out in the light; sooner or later. It is a principle, and it will happen, wether we like it or not.

I am very greatful for SMN NEWS being an overseas student, this website keeps me uptodated about all that happens over there on my island. For one thing, I firmly agree with SNBF with their support to this great news company because as he said, they are on time and reliable.

SMN NEWS Be encourage and NEVER BACK DOWN!!! smilies/wink.gif

RECEIVED FROM MR. LEOPOLD JAMES FOR POSTING.

Dear 'Hady', whoever you might be.....

As far as I Leopold JAMES, am concerned, you are free to continue to try to ridicule everything I do or say as a native St. Martiner.
To me what you think of me never mattered, still does not matter, nor will ever matter, let alone demoralize me in standing up for my people against those who wish to see native St. Martiners only as entertainers or even as artifacts in their museums/art-galleries/glossy magazines.
What matters to me for now is to support freedom of expression and the free flow of information as disseminated by the smn-news.
If you want to 'sneak' in an attack on me while, I publicly express support for the continued existence of smn-news, please be my guest.
Since I pride my native St. Martin identity and cultural ancestry, I do not need to attack others, while hiding my own identity in the shade of anonymity.
Carry on with your undermining efforts on what I stand for.
For now, trying to save smn-news is more important to the people of this island and abroad, that the bias you have in your heart against me.

Do enjoy the shade of anonymity.

Leopold JAMES

A proud native indigenous St. Martiner, with out any apologies for such.

To POSITIVENESS: Talking about Mr James and his "white woman" was certainly not call for. Big people need to start acting mature! First of all, you gotta stop judging, telling the man about "he couldn't find a good native", what's up with that? Once again, all of that was not called for.
As a matter of a fact, we Saint Martin people and Caribbean have to know our background in order to move forward. Which is such a sad truth because we do not even know our history. Yes we are FRENCH, but first and foremost we are SAINT MARTINERS and have a Caribbean identity which we should seek to grasp!!! Where we were is the truth which should lead us to a brighter future.
You talked about integrity, talking about other people's business is not an act of INTEGRITY!
One of the reasons why us youths are outraged is simply because most of you grown ups are hypocrites and fake! I respect the unative because they work together, and help one another, the only time Saint Martin people do that is during a HURRICANE.
POSITIVENESS your comment has been concluded by me as being 'senseless', your desire to expose the man was fufilled, I hope u are proud of yourself!!! CONGRATS smilies/wink.gif
