Well seem as if our island is slowly turning into a little regime where only those in power can say and do what they want to do. People this is a bad sign, if this continues the day will come when people will not be free to say and do what they want to do anymore. And you know what the results of these actions can be. What is more ironic to me in all this is citing the economic constraints of the Collectivé that they have money to spend on court and legal fees for such frivolous activities. Is that really doing the business of the people/taxpayers? Woe to us as a people the day that such organizations ever succeed in their effort to silence the press. I hope that the courts are wise enough to rule against their efforts.

Obviously the COM wants to break SMN financialy. There efforts will backfire. You cannot suppress the news. All news organizations have the responsibility to check out their facts before going to print. The COM has a PR department and they could refute or confirm these facts once they are questioned by reporters. A government taking a news organization online or otheriwse to court is suspious. It looks like they have something to hide. All SMN news has to do is get the picture of an unauthorized person driving the government vehicle.
Does anyone know if there is policy regarding government owned vehicles and who have the authority to command them or not?

Frantz Gumbs and L.C.Fleming better watch out! From this action it looks like they are planning on turning the French side of SXM into a police state.
If the COM employee felt vindicated, all rights to her, she can file a libel suit. But to go as far as getting the COM President to back the court case and try closing down a news website reeks of a dictatorship.
Much of the news reported can only be found from "reliable" sources... in government especially civil servants are not allowed to speak to the media. They also know they can lose their job.
I think this court case is uncalled for, if the lady so wanted to prove herself she could have do so via the same or other media. She works for the people, she is a public servant and thus is accountable to the people.
Frantz Gumbs and LC Fleming, I am ashamed of both you, we have family ties and I have always respected the fact that both you gentlemen have given your all to serve the public. But this is going too far... this is what happens when you don't listen to proper advisers and you forget who you serve.
Come out and let the people know if this civil servant failed at her job, maybe she did, maybe she did not.

I am a Collectivity worker and I can testify that in the case of the DGA heading our Social department, her boyfriend was using the Collectivity van (NISSAN URVAN 167 ZBC 971/color white) for this years’ Fish Day Celebration, not only to transport food and other stuff. On many other occasions, the same boyfriend was seen many times Dutch side in the smaller Collectivity car transporting stuff: CITROGEN C3 823 ZBB/color bleu.
And as for Mme Colette ERIVAN, she IS NOT doing her job. It doesn’t matter how many times u send on info to be giving over the press, nothing, absolutely nothing is done. Is it because, she doesn’t know her job or is it because she is lazy or maybe the leaders of this little island don’t care?
But our leaders do care about one thing, the pretty little lives that the COM is giving to them. Frantz GUMBS birthday party was paid for by the COM at a prestigious hotel located in Baie Nettle, or our new DAG MAGLOIRE never heard of before, who was also giving a birthday. Not much time spent on the island, but our boy MAG was able to negotiate his job contract containing one small clause: his wife had to also get a job within the Collectivity. WHAT BLISS!
The road tax was their 1st attempt to squeeze the ppl, then the annual taxes were next and finally AP found some ridiculous French law, to cut the salaries in case to have to many sick leaves. More court cases is right, is there something we do not know 'yet' that at all cost the website must be shut down? This is a democracy and the people have a right to know about government spending and who's not working when holding public offices, government vehicles for personal use and parties at taxpayers expense but slaunder, nope.
