Philipsburg:--- Members of the central committee took most of the day yesterday receiving first hand information on the dismissal plans of GEBE Managing Director William Brooks.
Attending that meeting there were members of the supervisory board, the stakeholders as well as Brooks himself who has been criticized for his management skills as well as his attitude towards his employees.
Yesterday's meeting came after an island council meeting was called last week to question the executive council on the matter, which relates to a young St. Maartener.
Brooks is accused of allowing GEBE to run out of fuel late December even though he was aware of the matter as of late November.
In an invited comment island councilman, Frans Richardson said the supervisory board of GEBE is micromanaging the company and some of the board members of GEBE are not in favor of the decision taken by the supervisory board mainly the former managing director and now chairman Julius Lambert.
Richardson said the supervisory board could not substantiate what they are saying about Brooks and he feels very strongly that the young manager must be given a fair chance to prove himself.
Richardson said the matters relating to the dismissal is still in process and has not yet been finalized. The supervisory board in a proposal to Brooks wants him to step down from his main position to a lower position. It is felt that Brooks should work his way up the ladder if he wants to be future manager of the government owned company.

Work his way up the ladder? What utter garbage!!!

Mr. Brooks has paid his dues, and deserves a fair shot.

Unfortunately Mr Brooks will either be demoted or ordered to take the buy out package. There's too much noise coming from the Supervisory board to save this gentlemen's position. They have too many hands that wants to run the company from the Supervisory board and their advise to the Island council will stand. That's their role. All the info has not been published or may never be published on the issues to which the supervisory board has made their decision to terminated or demote the MD.

now i can really see what is going to happen to us in the future. We go and study just like Mr. Brooks earn a degree and come back home and be told sorry but you have to work you way up. This is a shame. Now it is clear to see what they are doing to Mr. Brooks.
Break him completely in any which way they can. How many of them on the supervisory board has an education like Mr. Brooks. This is down right a disgrace and the supervisory board are the ones that should step down.
I have heard that Mr. Brooks has been away from St. Maarten studying for 30 years, with a dream to come back and serve St. Maarten. It was said that from a young age he new what he wanted to be and this was to Manage GEBE. Most of our young people today have no direction which way they want to go in life
and as far as i can see or say Mr. Brooks is a model example for me. It is said that he is into fitness and health and this is a visible aspect i may say. He keeps himself fit and up right. This is a model example of an outstanding Born St. Maartener. What more can people want? It is scary to see how St. Maarten is running lately. A chicken with its head cut off. This is making us as young people afraid. Will we get a job when we return from studying? Will they put a broom in our hands at the garbage dump and say wwork you way up? It sacares me, I can tell you that.
It appears to me that the supervisory board has no good grounds of getting rid of Mr. Brooks so they want him now to accept a lower position. mmmm something smells fishy.
Mr. Brooks stand tall, walk straight and keep your head up high, you deserve to be the Managing Director of GEBE. And if you decide on your own that you dont feel like stayong at GEBE anymore then we as students cheer you on too, because i myself dont think that i would have want to stay anymore on this island seeing how they have treated me. Even though this is what they want. To run all of us St. maarteners away. Funny thing Mr. Roy Marlin push for your dismissal and it seems as if he is out of a job before you. GOD DON"T SLEEP! he has more coming to him. So I leave by say to you Mr. Brooks and all those young people, In all your ways acknowledge GOD and he will direct your path. Proverbs.
