Cole Bay stabbing leaves man seriously injured --- Police silent on yet another violent crime. (UPDATED)

stabbingfillin24102012COLE BAY:--- A national of Haiti was seriously wounded Sunday afternoon in the Cole Bay area where he was stabbed by another man. While the incident occurred way before 7pm no one from KPSM could be reached for a comment. SMN News tried reaching the Chief of Police Carl John by telephone but he did not answer his telephone. SMN News also tried reaching the head of the detectives department Denise Jacobs who also could not be reached. With the spate of violent crimes on the island and police seems to be missing in action when they are needed by victims and the media is becoming more than worrisome. Several media workers tried obtaining information from police but the police spokesman it is alledged refused to give out any information on the stabbing incident.
On Monday Chief of Police Carl John confirmed that two men were arguing and the argument ended up in a fight. He said during the fight one of men pulled out a sharp object and stabbed the other one in the chest area. The top cop said that the victim went to the French side Louis Constant Fleming Hospital for treatment while the suspect turned himself Sunday night to police.
Even though this incident happened on Sunday evening, up to the time this article was written no information from the Police Spokesperson was released.
SMN News understand that the victim who resides in the “ghetto” area of Cole Bay was seriously wounded and he is currently at the Louis Constant Fleming hospital where he is receiving medical treatment.

Man seriously injured in stabbing incident.
The Detective Department is presently investigating a stabbing which left one man seriously injured. The incident took place on Sunday November 29th at approximately 5.30 p.m. on Rubber Tree drive in Cole Bay. Directly after the call came into the Emergency Dispatch several police patrols, Detectives and Forensic Department were sent to the scene to investigate what had taken place. On the scene the investigating officers learnt that during a heated dispute between the victim with initials D.D. (25) and the suspect with initials J.C. (29) the situation got out of hand and turned into a fight. During the fight the suspect stabbed the victim with a knife in his chest seriously injuring him. After committing this act the suspect fled the scene. The victim was treated on the scene by paramedics and then transported to the Sint Maarten Medical Center for further treatment. At approximately 08.40 p.m. the suspect turned himself at the Philipsburg Police Station. He was arrested on the spot and put into custody for further investigation. The victim in the meanwhile has been transported to the hospital on the French Side of the island. The condition of the victim was unavailable at press time. As soon as this information becomes available the media will be informed.
