National Institute of Arts launches Black Box Series.

The word Black Box comes from the theatre world and is defined as follows “is an open and flexible performance space that is used for intimate productions including plays, chamber operas, cabaret performances, and graduate student recitals. It is also used for movement and acting classes”.

Finding available Performance space in St.Maarten is constant challenge, so we at NIA have decided to convert our dance studio into a versatile space to host all types of artistic performances in a variety of genres, and disciplines. NIA kicks of this season of the Black Box Series with a performance by the Sunshine Theatre Company from Anguilla, with a theatrical performance of Jeanne and Sam Bobrick’s play entitled “Weekend Comedy,”

“Weekend Comedy” is a comedy about an older married couple forced to share a vacation home with modern under achieving young couple.

Frank the older man is played by veteran actor/director Felix Fleming.
Peggy, Frank’s wife is played by cosmetologist & popular model Amasha Richards. Tony a spoiled rich kid is played by popular SXM/AXA actor Jesus Richardson, and Jill a runway model is played by the host of “Finding Wisdom” Nisha Dupuis

“Weekend Comedy” is A comedy in two acts, will run at the National Institute of Arts Located at the John Larmonie Center in Philipsburg, Saturday November 28 and Sunday November 29, 8pm nightly Ticket: $20.00 in advance $25 at the door.
