Civil Servants in uproar, salaries not paid for the month of October.

Naf. 250.000.00 Reserved for Artemia to organize St. Maarten’s Day.

PHILIPSBURG:--- Civil Servants working for the country St. Maarten are up in arms with in caretaker Minister of finance Martin Hassink who did not to pay the civil servants but found Naf.250.000.00 to pay Artemia to organize St. Maarten’s Day celebration a one day event.
Some civil servants contacted SMN News on Friday stating that they were supposed to be paid today Friday 23rd but when they checked their accounts their salaries were not paid. The angry civil servants said that the Ministers ensured they got paid and they alleged that the police got paid but civil servants that working every day so that Ministers can get credit were not paid. Government Security, and the Control Unit officers checked with at least two banks who informed them that the Government of St. Maarten did not make the monies available to the banks in order for them to deposit their salaries on their accounts. One civil servant who checked with the bank said that the bank normally gets the monies from Government on the 22nd of each month.
