One shot dead in Cay Hill, several other shots fired (UPDATED)

deadmauricia10102015CAY HILL:--- An unidentified man was shot at former Teke Teke bar in Cay Hill around 10:30pm Friday night. The victim died on the scene. According to information reaching SMN News numerous other shots were also fired. According to  eye witnesses the victim received a number of gunshot wounds.  So far police does not seem to know who committed such a gruesome crime.Police and Forensic detectives are busy gathering evidence at the scene of the crime. This is the third person killed this week due to gunshot wounds.The killing Friday night have officers of KPSM somewhat devastated as two men were shot dead when they ambushed Pan American Amored truck in Cay Hill on Monday and by Friday night another killing occurred in the same area.On the scene Friday night were several top ranking officers and the prosecutor. It is clear that gun crime on St. Maarten has escalated and police seemingly have too much on their hands to deal with. the latest victim has been identified by some as Shafien Dungeon Mauricia who hails from Curacao. SMN News learnt that the victim is well known to police.
Chief of Police Peter de Witte confirmed the shooting that leaves one man dead. De Witte said that the investigation just begun and he does not have any details at this moment.

 

Man shot dead


The Police Department is presently investigating the fatal shooting of a twenty-eight year old male, which took place on Friday evening October 9th 2015 between 09.30 and 10.30 p.m. The shooting took place at the former Teke Teke snack bar located at the Welgelegen Road in Cay Hill. According to information received, a gunman entered the premises and started firing several shots and fatally injuring one man. After committing this act he fled in an unknown vehicle. Police, Detectives and Forensic department arrived shortly after the incident to conduct an investigation. Police closed off the area and diverted traffic to allow the forensic department to collect evidence while the detectives spoke to witnesses. Dr. Mercuur pronounced the death of the victim and the body was confiscated for further investigation. It is still unclear what exactly happened on the scene and who is responsible for this criminal act. The investigation is in its preliminary stages and additional information will be provided to the media as is becomes available.
