SXM seeking gold at ESPN international martial arts tournament.

martialarts07102015PJIAE:---  Martial artists from St. Maarten take to the international stage today at the start of a three-day Festival tournament featuring martial artists from around the world.

Some 16 athletes of the King Yen Tae Kwon Do School in St. Maarten, left from the Princess Juliana International Airport (PJIAE) Wednesday, along with five coaches, to compete in the international meet following months of preparation.

Joining the team is Tae Kwon Do Master Lui, who says the athletes are looking forward to their participation in the event at the ESPN Wide World Of Sports @ Walt Disney World, where they hope to win many medals in the various categories of competition.

The tournament is from October 8 to October 11 where the athletes will contest with other international athletes in forms, breakings and sparring competitions.

Proud parents, friends and well-wishers turned out Wednesday to wish the team much success and a safe return home from the tournament.
