French Quarter:--- A number of residents from French Quarter have decided to block the road in the vicinity of the French Quarter Gendarmerie hoping that the Gendarmes will act on what they consider arson. Andrew Baker Jr. told SMN News that this incident have been going on for the past two weeks and the gendarmes has failed to act thus far. Baker Jr. said the incident started by the burning of a garage which ended up to the burning down of his sister’s house and three vehicles in the past two days. At the scene where the residents blocked with a number of garbage bins are a number of Gendarmes.
Earlier when the fire started several Gendarmes and forensic officers went to the scene and gathered evidence to send to France for analysis to see if the fire was intentional. A relative at the home told SMN News at the time that the Gendarmes did tell them that it will take some time before they get the results back and unless they get those results they cannot arrest anyone for arson without proof even though the case looks suspicious.
SMN News understands that the family and their tenant are at odds and they have given the tenants notice to move out but instead of moving they chose to set the house and vehicles on fire. Residents and relatives said that this is not the first time the house is set on fire but the last time which was Monday and Tuesday the home was burnt flat while three vehicles were also burnt.
